He does have that X factor. Sandro doesn't have it, Munir kind've has it cause he'll score long range golazos every once in a while but Deu definitly has it, Halilovic and Adama too which is why they have all that hype around them.

I don't really see it as being inconsistent and more he's building up. If I were too look at his performances on a trend chart i'd say he's consistently trending upwards. He played well against bayern but that can't really count as it was garbage mins but he'll get there.

Cause of relegation it might be even better, he can play in the b team but it won't be as rough as it mightve been.

I mean, I doubt he's going to Bayern, they have Thiago/Gotze for the CM positions unless they plan to use Gundogan as a DM and or sell Gotze.

Xavi certainly is the more accomplished player. But he can't dribble so maradona wins I guess. Edit: Also Maradona wouldn't be considered a midfielder today, he'd be on the RW or as a False 9 most probably. Atleast if he played for Barca again.

Zidane is overrated but so are most retired legends. Both Xavi and Iniesta have had better career's than him and have shown more quality imo. Zidane wouldn't have been able to compete with prime Xavi/Iniesta.

Yeah I have noticed this, this may be it more so than anything and unlike Neymar/Xavi/Messi he isn't the type of player to say fuck it i'll play my own game and will dutifully follow the coaches orders with the exception of certain times where i've seen him play with more intensity and dribbling...

Maybe it was the wages or maybe it was bad offers, can we just release him or something? Let him go somewhere for free?

+1 The ball playing skills he has as a barca midfielder (defender leaving it there cause its pretty funny) put him on another level on top of his already great defending.

I don't know why we didn't sell him last year, maybe we could ave gotten some extra money he doesn't deserve to be on our squad imo.

For the first half of the season we have Rafinha/Samper/Halilovic to cover for positions and honestly we can play with a shorthanded midfield til january we're strong enough in other areas for that.

I wouldn't say strength, his resolve won't break if we're losing or anything like that as evidenced in the countless times he's saved us with his performances but maybe he's just not as in love with the competitive game as much as he was before I mean he's been playing for what 15 years...

Song proved us wrong 2 years ago imo, never was or will be barca quality.
