And instead got glorious ones like Song, Vermaelen, Douglas (and Mathieu). And we're probably not getting any of Pogba, Koke...

Renewing Alves at this point is pretty much our best bet. But I would have liked us to take a step forward and make the transition.

Nah, I think Carvajal will still be their starter. That's the most infuriating thing of all. They don't really need him but buy him whereas we need him but just sit back and chill.

Yep, and buying Pogba doesn't solve anything. We'd still need a player to play the "Xavi role" - a distributing player that controls our rhythm, tempo and flow of the game. Both Rakitic and Pogba are better playing a more vertical part. Koke on the other hand... The only player I'd take instead...

Sterling is awesome. Only thing he can massively improve is his finishing because it's really awful. Too often I've seen him made Hazard/Messi-esque dribbles only to put in an extremely weak and unprecise shot. It's easy to hate on the Premier League atm but he's really one of the good players...
