Don't like it but we must appreciate this was an inevitable outcome...A competitive keeper is going to want to play, not sit for half the matches

Still prefer Mats over Bravo but harder to gauge what Lucho et al will want to do as there are many variables to choosing one over the other

Hardly a surprise. When seasoned veterans like Cech got impatient after a season and left the league Champions in England then someone at that age should get impatient after two seasons.

He sounds really happy at/in Barcelona though. Half a season is a really long time from a footballing perspective so let's wait and see and not think the worst already.

CL is nice, but let's be honest, it's like 15-20% of the games of a season, and that if you make the final.

Stegen is a very good keeper, but he hasn't exactly made a case for him in the League while Bravo was injured. I remember a lot or people, press included, who couldn't wait for Bravo to get back in the goal.

As someone pointed out early on this thread he needs to have a chat with Sergi Roberto about patience, earning your stripes & seize opportunities.

The only way I see roles changed or Mats as an overall preference it's if Bravo starts declining or has a bad injury, which does not seem to be happening.

Probably there are a lot of snake tongues & also well-intentioned ppl in his entourage trying to convince him to put his professional career ahead of the team perspective which most of the times end up in a rushed decision. Let's hope for the best.

Yeah this German impatience is pissing me off a bit. Just enjoy the CL (which you won in your first year) and the Copa which you won in your first year and are a finalist second year. I think he's just choked about the Club World Cup mostly.

Roberto rode the bench for years fully expecting to never be anything but a long term bench option and actually had to be convinced by Lucho for two seasons in a row not to leave, and in that time everyone was all "What is Lucho thinking?!" Not actually relatable at all. For any other goalkeeper in the world winning the CL and the Copa in your first season in a new country is earning your stripes and Mats is perfectly justified to be unhappy with the bench.

Or if a hard decision is made in regards to looking towards the future instead of the present. No matter how long you tell yourself Bravo can keep performing at the top level, you can add nine to that for Mats.

If he leaves this summer in search of playing time that'd hardly be a rushed decision. I'm sure you'd be tickled to have him as a bench option for the next seven years while Bravo continues starting most of our games but that's clearly not going to happen. I'd be shocked if we even manage to tie Mats down to a new contract at this rate.

I still think that was a mistake by Lucho, if I have anything I could be "unhappy" (it's a big word, lucho is love) about is this because I believe it accelerated this situation.
