I'm honestly at a point where I'm willing to accept a slight dip in overall goalkeeping quality (his superior distribution would alleviate it heavily anyhow) for a season or so, if it means we have to play him in La Liga next season in order to keep him. Not that we should accept extortion, but I can completely understand if he won't be happy with continued severely reduced playing time - he's just too good for that.

As much as I appreciate Bravo, it would be devestating to lose MAtS. Sacrifices has to be made.

Best case scenarios for me would be:

A: The two swap roles next season. Bravo should be more than a bit interested in a push for the ChL. Whether it's enough for him to accept a degradation (at least on paper) is the question. I'm also far from sure if Lucho is sold on the idea.

B: MAtS accepts an unchanged role for another season with the promise of being first choice for the 17/18 season, as Bravo is now approaching 35. I can see the German accepting this, but I must admit the recent interview Galning linked isn't doing this scenario any favors.

I really don't want a loan deal for him, unless we find the perfect high level club, and honestly, who could that be?

This summer is going to be a thriller - both in terms of external and internal transfers.

I'm for scenario B but let him play in CWC if we win CL again.

That's just because of Bravo's early season injury. Otherwise it would've been 28/15, meaning the German would've played just about a third of the games this season.

And if Bravo wasn't injured, Stegen would have probably played CWC.
If Rafinha wasn't injured would Roberto play?

Numbers are there, it doesn't matter how.

Thing is, nothing has changed from last season in terms of hierarchy. A handful more games because of injury doesn't change that.
I'm not arguing that we should bench Bravo as it is, because obviously he doesn't deserve that, but I can understand if MAtS is concerned with the situation - not just this season, but also longer term.

Well, Courtouis was on loan for three seasons before they choose him over Cech so not exactly the same situation.

But I agree that longterm we should keep MAtS over Bravo.

Anyway, it's a good problem to have. To be fair I was afraid what we'll do after VV left (I remember the decade of Hesp's and Bonano's we had between Zubi and Valdes) but I have to give credit to Zubi for bringing ter Stegen and Bravo.

I know but things panned out better for Stegen so far in terms of playing time (we'll see how far in CL we go).

Send Mats on loan then?

When Courtois was loaned out he was a young goalkeeper coming from Genk. Ter Stegen at the moment is the same age as Courtois plus he has won a Champions League. Good luck loaning him out. If he leaves, it'll be a sale. I don't see how Ter Stegen is going to accept a loan move in his current situation unless Barça promise him some things.

I can't see it ending well then.

I think Ter Stegen looks much more comfortable in hte barca goal. He doesn't play every game with total nervousity anymore as if it's his debut
