Please swap roles next season. Must hold onto him, he could be our keeper for eight years or more

Jokes apart, a switch in roles is far from as radical as sometimes perceived here. We'll not drop in quality, far from it actually as both GKs have proved to handle pressure situations in different competitions very well.

A switch have its advantages and disadvantages for both GKs.

- ter Stegen would lose a prestigious cup competition as the CL, BUT he'll get to play week in and out which is important at his age

- Bravo will not get to play as regularly as he's enjoyed for a very long time, BUT he'll get the shot to play and win the CDR and most importantly the CL as a Barca GK, which is the only thing he lacks, and at his age, he might not get such a chance again, and he has the experience, years under the belt to most likely do well with minutes being spread over the season.

But ultimately it all depends on Lucho and the rest of the management(Unzue playing a very important role here I assume). Do they prioritize their short-term goals and 2-3 years at Barca or do they want to focus on both short-term + long-term for the club and their successor, because a possible sale of ter Stegen means we'll have to dip in the market and have to pay quite a few million euros for a GK of ter Stegen's stature and compatibility.

Honestly speaking, then neither of their choices would be wrong, but I think we should think long-term as well, in all positions, especially with the Espai Barca project about to begin and the possibility of the total cost of that project exceeding the estimated cost. It could tighten up our budget for signings a bit, so it's important to keep renewing the squad bit by bit instead of having to replace several players at once which would be problematic both cost-wise and personell wise.

He's not going anywhere. He has a contract and will most probably change roles with Bravo next season.

Playing every week will be a real test and we'll see if he's ready to fill Bravo's shoes.

Not sure about that. Wasn't Bravo Luis Enrique's pick?

I think Bravo was Unzue's choice and he Recommended him to Lucho.

Unzué also recommended Bravo to Pep back in 2010. Question now is how to go forward, it's highly improbable to keep two keepers of this quality in the same squad nevermind keep them happy with the rotation. Among their specific differences, they are 9 years apart in age, I think the choice is quite clear

I don't think its improbable keeping them both once the roles are switched.

I don't agree - both keepers want to play more matches. Even reversing the roles, Mats won't be content missing CL football anymore than Bravo would with Primera matches

This wasn't a bad idea to have the 2 in the beginning since keepers have historically had a terrible time fitting in at Barcelona. Even more so a young keeper like Mats, yet he's fulfilled the promise many believed he possessed

I would hope have thought that Mats would be content with a reversal for the next 1-2 seasons and then he could be made number 1 in all comps. Could be wrong of course but it would be a sign from Lucho that he intends to make hum number 1 eventually.

Perhaps. What we know is that all those rumours about him not being content with the rotation proved to be true which likely means the transfer speculation has a kernel of truth as well.

Will a reversal of the rotation be sufficient? I am skeptical but it will likely take some convincing from Lucho et al based on the rhetoric that Mats has expressed - will Enrique look to convince a young player to stay? No idea but Lucho doesn't strike me as that sort

His save against Alexis's freekick is one of the best I've seen this year. :)

Overall played a great game, can't fault him for the conceded goal.
