Yep.

Also, each one of the defenders gave the ball for free to a Bilbao player, due to their impressive pressure.

Having a keeper so good on his feet was instrumental to survive that pressure.

Not many teams pressure as high and relentless as Athletic at home.

Imo, he was good, minus 2 bad passes. He needs to be less cocky on he ball imo. It doen't matter if you make 75 perfect passes if you screw up 2 passes and receive two goals form those screw-ups. I'd like him to assume less risks. He risks too much. He always had keepers (starters) who pass the ball very well in recent history, but he makes me the most nervous, even if he might be the most skilled keeper with the ball at his feet. Being very good at something can make you superficial at times, and this can cost you. Some excellent saves and some great interventions at Bilbao's dangerous crosses.

His passing is so good it looked like players deferred to him to often when under slightest pressure and allowed him to make the pressure pass.

Almost felt like passing to him as get out clause to often.

He just had one bad pass though. His passing was brilliant. Several times played it out longer directly to a player of ours countering Athletic's press and leaving them frustrated.

It were 2.The one in the 1st half were he saved the shot and a low pass in the second half again to a Bilbao player.
Besides that he did very well.

Oh yeah. Forgot the second one.

Two bad passes then. With the first one admittedly being quite bad.

I think there were couple of instances where umtiti was not expecting the ball at all and had to clear because of athletic player super high. And also some couple of direct mispasses to athletic player on short range. One of them resulted in a shot. Not one but still this is very less considering how many passes he actually made.

Yeah, was a couple of bad passes with the first one being quite bad resulting to a shot.

About Umtiti then I think he was overwhelmed by the crowd today. He looked a bit confused when on the ball and often passed it back. Not easy to play your second league game in one of the most hostile stadiums in the league. Should get better from here.

That's a bad thing imo, not for him, but for the defenders. You can't just make your keeper pass 100 times under pressure and don't expect him to make mistakes.

Umtiti was first to blame for this, especially in the 2nd half. You could see he's not having the best game, and he just abused the pass to Stegen.

The over reliance on him was pretty ridiculous but just having him be available to bail our defense out when under pressure was a huge lift. Having him there really served to relieve pressure from our defense without forcing us to hoof the ball out every time we got it.

His passing is amazing but sometimes it's better to go for the long ball even if it doesn't guarantee us staying in possession, we spent way too much time around our box and made silly mistakes because of it that put us in a bad position.

it opens up the game so much when he makes those lobs under pressure though.. he should always play like that unless the opponents start pressuring the defenders like hell
