Back to VV days ladies and gents, although he seems definitely technically more gifted than Valdes, he is way more prone to gifting opposition a free goal(scoring opportunity) compared to Bravo. I guess its a matter of if his distribution will give us in a long term more benefits than his bound to happen mistakes.
I certainly believe that our opposition in La Liga is not dumb and they will learn how he plays and strikers will be even more eager in taking advantage of his style.

i remember times when valdes would make brainfart passes too and you would see Pep on the touchline clapping and encouraging him because Pep knew when you ask goalkeepers to pass the ball there are bound to be mistakes made. keep going MAtS, he will only keep getting better for us,

There is not doubt Ter Stegen is a great passer of the ball. Maybe the best in the world from that position.

I felt tonight though they used him too much to the point defenders turned away from taking risks and gave it back to him.

Valdes was an extra option if the defender had not other choice and he would keep circulating the ball. Tonight it just felt at times like rather than being last resort it was the easy option to give ball back to him and expect him to break the lines. No matter how good Mats is on ball that shouldnt be the case as much as it was today.

I wouldn't expect it to be that way in all games. Umtiti was largely unprepared for the high press and since Pique was passing back a bit too, he kind of just followed suit. It dominoed out of control to the point where Mats broke a record for passing goalkeepers (lol) but I'd only expect to see that against high pressing teams. We do need to come up with a way of dealing with other teams who will press us without relying on our keeper to bail us out every time, though.

Hopefully doesnt continue but I thought there was a real lack of link between defence an midfield becuase of it.

Against high pressing teams the defenders need to take it on and try to break lines more.

Felt like an over the top reliance on a good ball playing goal keeper the stopped any real link of playing ball out between defence and midfield.

As good as the likes of Raki was individually the midfield had no control of that game as a unit. That started from the back.

His passing is so good it looked like players deferred to him to often when under slightest pressure and allowed him to make the pressure pass.

Almost felt like passing to him as get out clause to often.

I had the same impression. Some balls just didn't need to be passed to him.

Knowing and being able to do are two completely different things.
