SPORT, MD, RAC1 etc. everyone saying he'll definitely miss Alaves and Celtic. Could make it for Leganes, but would be risky. He'll definitely be back for the Atletico game unless he suffers another setback.

This is very unfortunate, but I wouldn't worry about his injuries. Neuer suffered more injuries and was out for longer when he was at the same age. So to say it's injury proneness is far, far too early. Especially considering it's different injuries. A player who is injury prone like Vermaelen tends to get muscle injuries most of the time, usually in the same leg too.

The team SHOULD win all those games and the only way we won't is if the team fails. Playing Cillessen won't make us lose or draw, but a collective collapse would...

Don, not sure what you were referring to, but according to transfermarkt, Neuer only had one prolonged injury back in 2008 and that was pretty much it. All the other injuries he had were fairly minor that he was able to recover less than a week.

Never understand how some Barca fans could dislike certain Barca players so much so that they almost wish them to fail.

Wishing for some of our players to fail is akin to wishing Barca to fail. I can't imagine watching a game and being happy some dude is playing poorly because this will somehow validate my preconceptions i have about him.

If I remember, Robben had all sorts of injuries.
Mourinho was pissed at him at Chelsea saying: lol, he is injured again?

He was prone to all sorts of injuries all the time, if I remember.

NOT AGAIN!!!! How is this possible? He is a goalkeeper! I have never seen a goalkeeper who gets injured 2 times in a month! Unbelievable!!!

Just one thing to consider, and I could be horribly wrong, but still...

What IF 99% of Gks usually only train goalkeeper skills on trainings, like saving shots, jumping, picking crosses and similar?
And they train distribution with feet and hands only as a minor/secondary skill?

And then, who knows what Mats (Neuer wannabe and a Gk who plays with feet almost as Xavi) is actually doing on training sessions?
He surely needed to learn and regularly train those skills (precise short and long passes with feet, lobbed passes etc).

Again, this is a wild guess and I could be totally wrong, but:
1. what if Mats does too much of those things (playing with feet, trying crosses, long balls and different type of passes) during training sessions and in his free time at his home/gym or whatever? So, maybe he is forcing this regime too much (to fit into Barca's: Gk who can play with feet philosophy)?
2. on the other hand, regular players like Cms and Cfs are playing with feet, passing, dribbling and similar all the time and their bodies (muscles in feet and ligaments in knees) are accustomed for these type of skills, movements and changes of a direction...
On the other hand, Gks who usually only run, jump, save shots, pick crosses and throw a ball with their hands for probably 99% of time during their training sessions and their careers, probably don't have thigh muscles and knee ligaments accustomed to long passes, crosses, dribbles, lobs and similar in the way how regular outfield players have.

People will probably reply: Gks train passing skills also, it shouldn't be from that.
I know.

But once again, we can't see what our players are doing during sessions and what are they doing at home during free time.

An analogy: imagine a skinny player (Neymar in the past) and coaches tell him to gain some muscles.
He can overdo them now (during one summer) if he is trying to get muscles too fast and thus, he can sustain some strange injuries because his body is not accustomed to such an intense amount of bodybuilding in a short period of time (while his regime may be a joke/very easy for someone who is lifting weights for 20 years).
So, if he is overdoing something for which he is not accustomed, he can easily sustain 100s of injuries.

About Mats, injuries could be just a bad luck.
He could be injury prone.
But he could also be a guy who is overdoing everything because he is too eager to claim a No1. He was frustrated with Bravo's situation, he was probably overdoing it even then, and now when we sold Bravo and bought Chillessen, I wouldn't be surprised if he was overdoing it (with passes, crosses, and classic footballing skills) to claim his No1 spot as soon as possible.

I mean, he needed to learn those passing and lobbing skills somewhere.
And who knows how those skills and movements of his body are clashing with thigh muscles, knee ligaments and ankles which were accustomed to 20 years of mostly only jumping, jumping, jumping and saving shots.

How pissed off will he be if cillisen claims his place the way bravo did when he got injured in his first season

MAtS was never Lucho's first Lliga choice iilustrated by his persistence with Bravo even after MAtS' early return. Likewise, if Lucho has a designated #1 in his mind, injury or not, he will reclaim his place on return, the working of which seems to be in unison with every other elite club. But if Lucho has doubts again about MatS and Cillessen meanwhile overcomes the language barrier and Liga experience so as to perform significantly better in a short span of time, this injury may prove decisive.

He was known for his ball playing skills very early in his career. It was what attracted our scouts when they watched him @ Euro U17. He has himself talked about how he emphasised playing with his feet since an early age. I don't know if you can be supreme at any one particular skill by overdoing it in a short span of time.
You are right, he does seem to be overdoing things but not any one 'secondary' skillset (independent of the trainer's instructions). His tweets come across one who's too motivated but also a bit eager to arrive. Can't blame him though.

Not the worst time to miss him, if he is back against Atletico, but it will certainly weaken the team - and right now we have a lot of other changes as well.
I hope Cillesen does great, and proves he can play with his feet as well :)

I think it is a very very slim possibility that this will effect the keeper-hierarchy no matter what happens - it is quite settled and accepted, as I see it.

I don't know why you are all freaking out . Sure, mats is nowhere near Bravo's quality but cilessen is just as good as mats. He will be decent

If Cillessen even needs to put on a decent performance at all we should ask serious questions of our defense, and the ball playing skills Mats has are much harder to match. Hard to see Jasper "pulling a Bravo", despite how many people butthurt about Bravo leaving are crossing their fingers for it to happen.

Yeah Cillessen's form last season was dreadful. Good for him though as he can immediately show his new manager what he can do. Golden opportunity, hope he takes it.

Yeah, and Alaves is as good a team as any to start to get his feet wet here. There shouldn't be anything too outrageous coming his way, but he could still have a chance to show us something.
