Ter Stegen's conceded goals vs. Málaga

I'm pretty sure the reason why he stands there is because he was speculating that Sandro would plan to round him and therefor tried to leave him with only the possibility to shoot. I think that's the whole idea behind that. Could've worked, but didn't and looks a bit unfortunate now on ter Stegen's account.

You can't blame your goalkeeper for conceding when the entire defense is beaten so badly that the striker can stop and make a twitter poll asking his fans where he should aim his shot.

While I agree he could have done better, there absolutely no way the goal can be blamed on him...

It looked to me as if he thought Mathieu was going to catch up with Sandro and that made him doubt if he should come out or not, but either way, the goal is on the french and there's not even a doubt about it to me...

i dont understand the argument , he is not to blame for both goals, but his reaction for every close shot is
always always the same, he sets on his ass and spreads both hand, watch the second goal from malaga
or even the first, but in the second goal, he thought the first player will shoot and hence he went into
that reaction mode where he almost sits on his ass and spreads his hand, when the second player
shot the ball again he went into the same reaction where he almost sits on his ass and spreads the hand,
hen never ever try to guess where they will shot and jump with the whole body to the left or to the right.
u just have this feeling that any shot not aimed at him will b a goal 99% of the times. a world calss keeper
might have saved the first goal.

So you're saying you want him to flop aimlessly in hopes the striker will choose to shoot where he jumps? He does the right thing trying to make himself big in front of the striker. Don't know what World Class keepers you're seeing but I don't see Buffon, Neuer or De Gea trying to jump for a supposed shot in a 1v1

well i don't blame him for conceding 1on1 but i think that prime victor valdes would save sandro's shot

No he wouldn't have. Maybe Valdes in his final season before injury could would have but he wasn't at his prime then and he had years of experience by that point.

Not only are some partly blaming him for conceding a 1on1 but have some of you also forgotten how he saved many of those on the last months? Crucial stops in the league when the score was even or keeping the comeback vs PSG alive.

This is correct, he managed to build enough credit during the last few months... In fact, he still has credit because it's not like he conceded a howler or something, he was left hopeless by the defense, and while there's always a chance to save a shot, you really can't hold it against him this time...

Agreed. No such thing as perfect keepers and like you said he built up credit. Only thing left is to work on them corners though.

His boot doesn't look stuck at all. He was just crouched preparing to dive, realized Sandro picked short corner, he extended his leg and after that just lost his balance.
