Like every goal keeper?

He has way more brainfarts then most GK's. He is very unreliable even in his best form. Can make 3 consectutive impossible saves and then do a blunder. Even if I remove his blunders he still nowhere near among the best gks currently.

Every goalkeeper makes mistakes, the question is how many and Marc makes too many mistakes compared to top goalkeepers.
Also he doesn't make as many top saves as world class goalkeepers and his freezing and staring at the ball as it goes into the net is annoying.

This 'freezing' thing is over played.

If start thinking like that about any keeper would start thinking they do it a lot.

Sure he has one of the best saves to shots out there so he is doing something right.

Dybala scored his second v him last season and folk go mad about him should have saved it, Messi scored very similar winner v Real and no one blames Navas.

I have never seen a goalkeeper doing it as much as MATS especially with easy shots.
He also has a big problem with long distance shots where the ball moves in the air, you can clearly see that in Asensio's goal in the last clasico and trigueros goal in the copa 2015 just as examples.
Coclusion: MATS relies too much on his prediction and starts moving too early, when the ball goes into the direction he moved to he can make one of those very good saves, when it goes into the other direction he just freezes and watches and doesn't react.

If he was as bad as that he wouldnt have some of the best shot stopping stats.

Too much is made of it when it isnt for other goal keepers doing the same thing in my opinion.

He's an average shot stopper.

David de Gea is a great shot stopper and ter Stegen is nowhere close to him when it comes to that.

De Gea is the best in the world in my opinion but he has games and concedes goals that barely get spoken about again. The type Ter Stegen gets trashed for.

Strengths:

- I think he is actually great at saving close range shots.
- He has great ball control and passing skills.

Weaknesses:

- He "freezes" or misjudges long-range shots going to the top corners.
- He is weak in the air.

Also good at penalties. His penalty save rate is crazy. Around 50% with Barca IIRC. 25% overall.

I think Barça needs to hire a GK Coach that can teach MAtS how to deal with high crosses, that's a weakness he should be able to correct. He is still young.

This and his tendency to parry rather than catch the shot are his actual weaknesses. Also he used to overdo the sweeper keeper thing (I remember in his first season he tried to dribble Aguero and almost got dispossessed), but that's not really the case any more. The "freezing" thing is way overplayed.
