Good way to handle it tbh.
it quickly went from a 10 year old post to a school teacher asking a question
pretty weird

He is starting to show what so many people thought he could be.
Good for him and Barca. Biggest challenge would be to sustain this level and also improve. I hope he does that and this really is the breakthrough season for him to realize his potential.
Always was the right decision to choose him over Bravo.
The decision was pretty easy to make.
as good as Bravo was for us, he was on the wrong side of 30 and while it's true Goalkeepers are different compared to other positions on the field, not all of them age the same way. Some can play and not lose a lot well into their Mid 30s while some dramatically fall off even in their early 30s like Casillas.
Bravo ended up in the Casillas territory, once he left Barcelona. His time at City and even the National team he was nowhere near the player he once was for us either due to physical decline, Personal issues, and loss of confidence or likely all the above as he was dealing with some personally issues at home due to his newborn daughters health.
Admittedly he's shown some good level stuff this season when he played but he will never truly regain that level and form he once showed for us during the 2014/15 and during the first half of the 2015/16 season. Mats may have been young and had some inconsistent performances but it was the right call to stay with the young German.
The irony is while Real is doing well in finding good young talent, they are stuck in a pretty bad spot in their Goalkeeping position. While Navas as elite as he is, he's aging and injury prone and their backup Kiko Casilla not anywhere as good as Navas is and he's also the same age.
There lies the issue, they will have to pay a lot of money to remotely get any of those two. It seems like most of the big teams you see have that relatively young keeper who can play for at least another 10+ years or so but Real don't have that and they will have to pay a hefty price for that eventually in terms of transfer fees. They will get Dr Gea or Donnarumma. Pretty sure about that.
