Bobo I quite often think you get a hard time over Puig and I quite often have agreed with your thoughts on him to some extent, but comments like the first priority for a keeper should be passing and vision are just beyond ridiculous.
To be honest he?s not even great at that. Loves a 45 degree pass lofted into danger. But if he?s going to get paid to be a goalkeeper, first things first - try making some saves from time to time.
For an apparent top class keeper his save percentage is pathetic.
Maybe he is too bad with the saves now.
I didn't notice, but I've noticed a lot of the blame he got here were from unsaveable shots, ridiculous critique. But I understand it adds up, and my initial post was to say I am ready to change my opinion on him, I will look more closely. I am also starting to have opinions on his game with the ball at his feet...
If we have two attributes - one is ball playing ability + what I called vision (coming out to get the ball or not) and the other one is pure ball saving and these attributes are rated 0-100.
Then most professional keepers will be between 80-100 in ball saving, while the range would be between 5-100 at ball playing ability. You won't find someone who is at 5 saving, there isn't a big difference there. If Stegen was at 5 I'd obviously agree...
Ter Stegen is at least a 95 "play" and 90 "save", according to what I've seen.
Let's say you claim he's 90+80 instead? (worst ball saving keeper in the top leagues, and not even great on his feet). Then maybe there is someone better available. Then it's a case of economics and the inherent uncertainty of bringing a new player (even larger for a keeper)
I'd say Valdes was 90+80 in these attributes, but he was the best keeper available for Barcelona at that time. He was great at 1v1s though.

I belive Cruyff said something about this as well, about a keeper touching the ball with his feet most of the time, so you should look for those able to use them well.
