You guys still miss the point.

While he did clearly make some mistakes such as Madrid's first goal, Valdes has been outed by Barca's really amateur mistakes.

The team has been constantly giving up the ball in really dangerous positions (middle of the field) and have stopped descending when needed to play defense.

Making pressure is only part of the defense, if the team doesn't descend like they continuously failed to then Valdes is left to walk on water game after game.

Coffee's time is slowly ending, it is 30 minutes old now, and it seems its getting colder and colder. :tea:

Valdes has made some mistakes (most notably vs RM), but so have every member of the team.

Are you guys seriously suggesting replacing Valdes?

Seems like this happens every few years. Guys here the name of some unproven but trendy goalie prospect in the tabloids, and suddenly Valdes isn't good enough. Remember Ustari? Asenjo? Really setting the world alight, eh?

I figured you people would have learned your lesson by now, but I should have expected less. Yeah, it's Valdes' fault the defense sucks and the midfield is oversaturated.

Yes, our defense has had its problems, I agree. And yes, our midfield has been a bit "oversatured" or mixed around too much imo...

...but that has nothing to do with a large majority of the mistakes Valdez makes. Ronaldo's goal in the last classic...he had a defender running with him and another defender cutting off the passing angle to the one other RM player making a run. Valdez came out for no reason and left the net exposed. All he had to do was wait in the net, let the player stay with Ronaldo and cover his angles/near post well. That is not the defenses fault, counter-attacks ARE GOING TO HAPPEN. The defense was doing their job to cope, Valdez was just an idiot.

Not too mention Valdez is absolutely terrible at free-kicks and corners. How many times does he come out and fails to even make contact with the ball period? He is not a world-class goalkeeper, he's just played for a team that makes him usually have nothing to do. A goalie playing on a team with 70% possession and only a few shots on net a game....not impressed, not even a little bit.

And I don't care if he's "good with his feet", I wan't a goalie that keeps the ball out of the net first and foremost. I don't see passing the ball accurately 10-15 yards reguarly nearly as important or as difficult.

Elementary, my dear Co0ter. :sherlock:
His main weakness is how he handles crosses into the box, but he had the highest save percentage in the league last season, way higher than Iker Casillas, who he has outperformed for the last 3 years, and you don't see Madridistas wanting to sell Iker.
