It can.

Leverkusen - Barcelona: 4 shots on target, 1 goal conceded
Barcelona - Leverkusen: 1 shot on target, 1 goal conceded
Milan - Barcelona: 3 shots on target, 0 goals conceded
Barcelona - Milan: 1 shot on target, 1 goal conceded
Chelsea - Barca: 1 shot on target, 1 goal conceded
Barca - Chelsea: 3 shots on target, 2 goals conceded

So overall in the knockout rounds of this year's Champions League campain Valdes has conceded 6 goals from 13 shots on target. But the most amazing thing while searching up those statistics is: how did Leverkusen manage 5 shots on target, more than Milan and Chelsea? :troll:

Edit:

Hilarious. From last season:

Barcelona - Manchester United: 1 shot on target, 1 goal conceded
Barcelona - Real Madrid: 1 shot on target, 1 goal conceded
Barcelona - Shakhtar Donetsk: 1 shot on target, 1 goal conceded
Barcelona - Arsenal: 0 shots on target, 1 goal conceded

:worthy: :valdes:

Just feel I should clarify the following.

Last season:
CL Final: Barcelona - Manchester United: 1 shot on target, 1 goal conceded (shouldn't have counted as it was offside)

This season:
Barca - Chelsea: 3 shots on target, 2 goals conceded <- both 1 v 1s. Can't really blame him for the second, and the first one wasn't his fault either, it was Mascherano who made the mistake.

As for that RvP goal, Valdes had a knee injury

VÍCTOR VALDÉS:
THE HEARTBREAKER

ANDRÉS INIESTA’S BEST friend in football is also the most consistent Barcelona player of the last
six years. Every top-class goalkeeper will tell you that the less to do, the greater the test on your
concentration.
The goal he conceded against Arsenal at the Emirates in February 2011 – when he let the ball slither
past him at the near post – and the mental aberration in the 3–1 Clásico win at the Bernabéu in 2011,
where his misplaced pass led to Madrid’s first-minute goal – stand out because of how rarely he makes
mistakes.
His team-mates repeatedly underline the security Valdés’ footballing skills and one-on-one prowess
gives them. This is essential to their ability to play high up the pitch and regularly to use a three-man
defence.
Since Pep Guardiola took over, Barcelona’s results against Real Madrid speak of total domination.
Anyone who has been at all those games would also mention how often a Real Madrid breakaway
ended with Valdés making an unlikely block in that nerveless way of his – particularly in the first two
Camp Nou Clásicos of Guardiola’s reign, which ended 2–0 and 1–0, but were utterly nerve-racking.
The Barcelona fútbol base-trained goalkeeper must be part sweeper. Valdés fits this profile perfectly.
His willingness to spend much of the game patrolling the high edge of his penalty box stems from him
being unfazed by opposition breakaways and the eyeball-to-eyeball, winner-takes-all contests.
He is a tough man, somebody who demands high standards from everybody around him – even the
media – but is also very funny. It was his clever idea to prepare and show a DVD of his impersonations
the night before the first leg of the Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid, which helped
reduce tension and catalyse a winning atmosphere.
He has eliminated the impetuosity of his early years. I remember him being infuriated when Louis
van Gaal would regularly return what looked like a budding first-team footballer to the B squad – as he
did with Xavi. Valdés once stormed out, missed training and jeopardised his future at the Camp Nou.
Now, his ability to harness that ferocious competitive instinct is at the heart of his game.
This Catalan dispelled the myths that he did not value the Spanish national team and might be a
disruptive influence by fitting in perfectly with Iker Casillas and Pepe Reina en route to World Cup
victory. I watched him train every day and support his team-mates with intensity, despite knowing that
he would not play.
I’ve found him a gem, as likely to face up and speak about issues when his team loses as when they
win. A real man. He loves music and the birth of his son Dylan has helped him find happiness,
something which will be augmented when he finishes playing and is allowed to kite-surf and ride a
Harley whenever he wants.
Wembley 2011 did not provide him with the toughest medal he has won, but Barcelona fans will
never forget his defiance on a different occasion, the Champions League final in Paris five years earlier.
He broke Thierry Henry’s heart that night, but he won those of Barcelona supporters forever.

Sell Valdes for €5 and buy Van Persie for €23-€34.

Pinto can be starter goal keeper. If he gets injured, Busquets or Pique can be replacement because they are tall. Fabregas can replace Pique/Busquets becuase he has defensive midfield experience and we all know how well Masherano is doing right now as a defender.

I disagree with the highlighted part..he has improved vastly under Pep and last year he was in top 3 GK. Unfortunately this year he made many stupid mistakes(like most of our players)..if we are speaking frankly, 90% of the players have been subpar this season(including Pique, Xavi or Iniesta). Does this mean that we have to sell them all? We just have to hope that next year they will be more motivated under Tito and they will try harder.

I only see 2 GKs who would be just as good at Barca as at any other team: Buffon and Neuer..but one is at the end of his career and the other just became Bayern's hero. When VV will retire and we will have problems replacing him, many will realize how good he was for us and how important was in the winning of the 2006&2009 CL trophies.

I don't feel hes ever been up there with Casillas, buffon, van der sar etc. In terms of shot-stopping he is one of the best but he's dodgy under high balls and prone to some mistakes which have proven very costly these past few games. If he had stayed on his line in both cases this thread would be dead like it usually is.

At 30 he is hitting his prime for a goalkeeper and I have faith in him. I think that if he learns from these mistakes he will climb into that top 5, even top 3 bracket.

Also some of you on this forum are awful fans and have very poor knowledge of football. Players make mistakes, and sometimes players are simply outdone by better opponents on the day. 10 CL's in a row and some of ye would still be complaining.

If anything Valdes is a more well rounded player than Casillas, who might be the best shot stopper in the business but is a joke on the ball and can be vulnerable to set pieces.

Lol. Man the glory hunter cules are funny. Few months ago he was the best goalkeeper in the world now every one and their grandma wants him out. Funny how you guys work.

Valdes is the best goalkeeper available for Barcelona and whoever thinks someone would do the job better you're deeply mistaken.

Yes. Everyone wants him out. Exactly right.

Barçapocalypse NOW!
I wouldn't mind if he spent time on the bench in the upcoming La Liga matches... That would secure him his 5th Zamora trophy and Pinto would get a nice round of games ahead of the Copa final which is always a good thing...

Valdés is great, he was betrayed by his instincts in the past week, he was prey of the moment of anxiety and pressure the whole team had, even Messi fell in that trap... He's the best keeper we could have...

Pinto is a better goalkeeper than Valdes.

Fun fact: During the 05/06 season, Pinto won the Zamora award with fucking Cleta Vigo who finished the season in sixth.
