Nah not at all, i would be worried if it was more than just an 18 month contract. He represents an oppurtunity to have a good to very good goalkeeper as a backup whos won it all and presumably gets paid very well for it, didn't he have money issues? Van gaal has stated in the press release he would be number 2.

18 months with an option for another year. But it still strikes me as odd. They're probably signing him as a precaution in case De Gea rejects a new contract. Or, as I said before, to keep him out of Liverpool's hands just for the lolz.

Highly doubt it's that simple. DDG has to put up with so much thanks to United's back line, they probably wanted to give him a decent backup keeper for cup games and friendlies.

Plus he's an Atletico boy. I don't think he'd like to play for RM in front of Atleti's fans now that the Madrid derby has come back to life.

De Gea is apparently close to signing 140K a week new contract....Valdes probably joined just for the money and rehabilitation without too much pressure.....If he does well as our backup he can easily go on to have another 3-4 years at the top......

+ he got a good chance of getting all the money from Monaco so I don't think he mind warming the bench lol

He was injured for quite some time. I think he'll be just a backup, which is a shame. I don't think De Gea will leave United any time soon.

I don't understand whether you guys are trolling or being plain haters !! He never wanted to leave Barca to be #2 at United. He was supposed to be the #1 of Monaco. But his injury cost him that as well as our chances of getting major trophy. Now that Monaco backed out, he has to get a club and United offered him an opportunity to get into better shape and dorm so he took it.
