He's Catalan and a club legend. No way he ends up with Madrid.

He is Catalan in the sense that he was born in Catalonia but he like millions of others in Catalonia is not of actual Catalan origin.

"Nació en Hospitalet de Llobregat (Barcelona), en el seno de una familia originaria de la villa zamorana de la Puebla de Sanabria, emigrada a Cataluña después de la Guerra Civil española."

http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Víctor_Valdés

So his grandparent (s) emigrated to Catalonia after the Spanish Civil War from the Province of Zamora (Castilla y León).

Xavi too is of Spanish origin as his father originates from Almería. His mother is Catalan though. Catalonia outside of the countryside and mountain villages is very mixed and Spanish-Catalan marriages are very common. My father is the result of such an marriage.

Anyway this rumor is pure nonsense if you ask me.

Valdes picked Monaco but Monaco bailed out after Valdes' injury concerns.
I think United was a rare club that offered him a contract.

Not nice to mock a Barca legend who got unlucky with that bad injury.

Poor taste.

Cheap shot really. He came to train with coaches who gave him his chance at the start of his career and to complete his rehab. He'll be with a club somewhere next season and playing first team football again.

If De Gea leaves, isn't it likely that he would stay in Manchester?

A legend that made it public about leaving half way through the season and was still going to leave even though we had a transfer ban.

He gave notice to the board half a season before leaving which gave them time too scout new goalkeepers.
The transfer ban wasn't in effect as of that summer so everything cleared out.

I think he did the best for everyone except for himself.

it's hardly a mocking just a sad reallity for him and he did anounce he's leaving in mid season withouth certainty of joining another club which is far from a thoughtfull move

Yeah, he wasn't the most considerate guy. Was a bit of a loner in a dressing room too.
Still, a Barca legend.

Probably and I'd be fine with giving him a chance. But Valdes is unproven in the PL and it's hard to assess him from the u21 games, as he's been barely tested and the intensity is much lower. By all accounts he's looked good in training and seems a big character who speaks English well but we'd need a solid back up keeper just in case, someone like Tim Krul I'd go for.

He will be our first choice goalkeeper next season when De Gea becomes Judas to join Real Madrid.

I think he'll do a good job. He was in great form before his injury and his rehab has gone well.
