10 - Ansu Fati

One thing you may consider is his attitude. Lucho post World Cup implied that it was a mistake to call up Fati for WC. De Zerbi said he is not good and bad attitude too.

Xavi didn't say anything but truth is he didn't trust Fati at all when he was healthy for the whole season.

He will have a fresh start under Flick. Let's see.
A couple of things De Zerbi said about Ansu:

“He needs to improve his performances, to improve his physical condition, to improve his mentality…”

“He has to give us something more, because what he’s doing is not enough.”

When asked about extending the loan
“I don’t know. I have to speak with Tony, the sporting director, scouts and recruitment team.”

This is the thing, he looks like he’s given up. Cool my dude, he doesn’t have to glide tackle into ever situation or go into duels with massive center backs on corner kicks - but at least run and look engaged ffs, if he’s scared about getting injured again than he can hang up his boots today because he sure as hell have the cash to live comfortably the rest of his life.

Yes, there was some negativity in his attitude. That has probably to do with his exclusion from Xavi's plans, and seeing others climbing the pecking order above him, or even the club forcing him to go out on loan, and loaning Felix in his place

I hope his attitude will be much better now under Flick
Yeah but that wasn’t really unfair or personal - Ansu doesn’t look like he even wants to be on the pitch. If he doesn’t even try we help him pack his bags and send him on loan to some LL team and pay 90% of his wage so we don’t have to watch him sulk while on +12M a year. Man up dude, most children in Africa don’t even have 1M ffs!

Personally expect nothing from him. Looks done both physically and mentally.
Looking at this somebody would guess you had an hour long conversation with him and examined his mental state as well as physical fitness

Instead you probably saw a picture of him or 10 second long training video and made this conclusion

The unfair is questionable: do you think Felix offered something important last season?
I think he was inconsistent as hell, and Ansu could have scored more goals in the same number of minutes, had he stayed in his place

Then, there is of course always a personal element in all these cases.
Ansu has Barca in his blood, he was raised here. The disappointment of seeing outsiders like Felix being prioritized ahead of him even for a rotation spot in the squad hurts A LOT!

Wages are a problem and there is only Fatporta to blame for that. Wage reduction or appearance/minutes based wage could have been negotiated with him

Felix was better. The Ansu injury and Felix winning us points like versus Atleti is proof of that we shouldnt need to look at the trades in hindsight.

Saying that, Ansu biggest obstacle will be his mentality to start with. We're a more physically prepared team now.

He needs to take heed from examples such as Nico Gonzalez who spent half a season working on his fitness level before the door was opened for him at Porto.

We, and he, should have no expectation of playing much for the much of the first half of the season. Just work hard consistently and see where it can go. My heart says back to the injury room which isn't a good vibe to project, but let's see.

You can’t include Xavi in the case of Ansu, he was not ready at that moment in time. De Zerbi was about to get fired so pointless to use him as a barometer of his value/effort, especially when he got injured

Flick bets on the player, why not?

God have mercy!!!

There is so much stupidity on this forum. its a thousand for a cent here.

Here is the only place where you see people praise Flick for having an eye for talent in one breathe for chosing sergi Dominguez over others, but same set of people then turn around to condemn Flick for sticking to Ansu, claiming he is backing a failed talent....

Barca forum... a comic relief

Thought Pablo Torre might get a run out versus Girona.

Has Flick said though, 3 clear days to prepare for Monaco.

This is the first test of the season, they are doing great in Burger League, but also spanked us at Gamper.
