And why would that matter to him anymore? He has his contract until 2027 and he'll get his 14M regardless, but if he doesn't even try it's going to be his last contract. It looks like he made up his mind, he already quit football in Brighton - now it looks like he's doing everything to suck so he doesn't even have to be on the bench. He won't even have a go at a low table LL making less than 1M after 2027, dude has checked out.

You have to make performance and age based ones ideally, starting "low". Otherwise it will balloon, the wages will only go up.

But obviously with Mendes as agent it's going to be difficult, I think he'll stay at Barca even on a lower salary if the team is successful, for now. Barca is also a strong brand.

All players could earn more on Saudi contracts if they wanted too. Like Cancelo.
