Our team is built around Messi to a greater extent than Madrid's is built around CR, so it's not that surprising. It's difficult to draw conclusions, because someone would replace Messi if he was out, and we would change how we play.

We could of course not build the team around him, but that would be dumb because he's one of the best players of all time.

No it isn't. Our team dedicates its time to Ronaldo like no other. It is just that your team this year has been performing on a much lesser level than any other year but considering Messi is super human and a freak of nature you are on our tail.

There is also the fact that Cesc Fabregas was there putting in some massive goals and assists for you before he turned all Waka Waka on freekicks...

Exactly, it's just anecdotal evidence really. Who's to say what would have happened if Messi wasn't playing (or any other player) but just removing their goals doesn't prove anything.

Though I definitely agree that Barca rely on Messi much more than Real rely on Ronaldo but that's mainly just because Messi is so much better than Ronaldo.

Yes, I believe it, because they coudn't score so much goals. Barca has good miedfield, but who score goals? Barca would loose more points.

It's absurd because Barca would obviously have bought/be playing another striker. We play through Messi. If we did not have him, we'd play through another forward or set of forwards. They would score more because of it.

The Spanish NT (pretty much Barca) do pretty alright without Messi i'd say, Barca without him would still be the best, but with him just makes the team ridiculously good.
