The Spanish NT (pretty much Barca) do pretty alright without Messi i'd say, Barca without him would still be the best, but with him just makes the team ridiculously good.

barca wouldn't be the best, but a very good team. I swear, I'm 100% sure.

Is the scenario that Messi does not exist?

It's absurd because Barca would obviously have bought/be playing another striker. We play through Messi. If we did not have him, we'd play through another forward or set of forwards. They would score more because of it.

But not every striker could score 50-60 goals in a year. Barca would suffer more without Messi!!! Why you don't acknowledge it. Why you make Messi's play less?

You don't need a player to score 50+ goals a season if you have two scoring, say, 30+ a season. That's the point.

We have someone that can, so we utilise him. If he was not around, we'd have other forwards or be using Villa (if fit, etc) in other ways.

If we replaced Messi, we'd still be the best team I reckon. Something like:

Villa----------Agüero----------Eto'o
-----------------------------------
-----Iniesta------------Xavi--------
-------------Busquets--------------

Except Real Madrid got Messi. Then we'd be fucked.

i think everyone missed the point of that messi/ronaldo table completely. of course it would be like taking out the best contributor of every team in the league, it just doesn't make sense to look at it that way and say 'aha, this is what it would be like without them!' but it's just a good way of measuring the importance of a player, say in contrast to another player who's contribution is missing (in this case ronaldo) it gives you a pretty good idea in comparing them for team importance

But you don't have Eto'o, because he went to an other team. I don1t have villa, because he is injured. You don't have Agüero, because he went to City. They are very good striker, but they couldn't score 50-60 goals.
To replace Messi isn't easy, absolutely not.

It's no secret that Messi has carried us far more than Ronaldo carried Real Madrid this season. You just have to look at our second highest goalscorer in La Liga: Xavi. And then look at Real Madrid. 4th and 5th highest goalscorers in La Liga: Higuain and Benzema.

If we sold Messi for € 500 million, we could afford all those players. No worries there. Even Eto'o would come back.

yeah i know, but it's still a good way of measuring it pretty much directly. plus it would be interesting to see it with other players

You don't have. Sorry I didn't type it well.

You're not thinking it through enough. If Messi wasn't there someone else could take a more central striker role and would score far more goals. Villa in the center with the service he'd get from the rest of the team (cf. spanish NT for a preview) is a beast; it would be ideal in any possible situation except Messi is just so good people have to make way and play more on the wing.

Without Messi and with in-form strikers we'd still compete for everything but wouldn't have Messi to bail us out with a bit of genius. We'd win less often because of that and all would be far harder, but we could still beat any team imo.

Villa let out a lot of possibilities in last season! By Messi isn't just goal, but assists and keypasses, and can make a lot of place to others. Messi won't play on the wing, because he is as a player much completed!!! Eto'o played there, but Messi scored more goals. Ibra played there, but Messi scored more. Villa played in the last season, and he couldn't score so much. Don't make Messi's acknowledge less!!!
