He's also improving his assisting. I really don't get why you'd think he's declining. He's not even 25 yet... He's still improving, imo.

As an athlete, he's got slower, worse acceleration, lesser ability to make quick turns, etc. It's pretty obvious. He's a much better shooter and passer than back in the day but far less explosive.

I've seen him doing plenty of accelerated runs this season. He doesn't have the space to do them more often, but he hasn't lose that much pace, to be noticeable.

I've seen him doing plenty of accelerated runs this season. He doesn't have the space to do them more often, but he hasn't lose that much pace, to be noticeable.

Very few times he had the same space this season like he used to have in 2009-2010, but when he did we saw what he can do(the away game against Malaga is an example)..and just because he lost some acceleration and he doesn't do those runs 5 times/game, it doesn't mean that he's a worse player. He improved his passing and his decision making..even his fks are getting better. So if anything he evolved as a player.

Oddly enough, many cules think that Messi's peak as a player was in the season where he had the fewest assists under Guardiola(11)..

Might agree on the shooter part since I don't always see messi shoot from long distances anymore, though I still think he is better than 09/10 imo
