I'm glad that after seeing that horrendous picture, Messi escaped with ankle bones intact. They should make a rule that players who injure others get a match ban as long as the injured player is unable to play. The whole sport loses out when athletes engage in unsportsmanlike conduct.

P.S. this is my first post, i'm happy to find this forum of Barcelona lovers :messi:

Visca el filòsof!
The most amazing thing about this whole episode is that it's actually prompted Mundo Deportivo to come up with an imaginative headline. "Messicide!" is pretty good.

It didn't look that bad on TV damn, I thought it was just a knee contact and then Messi slipped in a wrong way and hurt his ankle. But THIS is just damn, absolutely reckless and could easily get straight red. Good that it's not that serious.

Also did anyone notice how everyone knew when Messi went down that it was serious ? I mean many players roll and scream like that but others know it's just to fool the referee, with Messi everyone knew he was injured because obviously he doesn't do that.

Messi leaving the medical center. He's walking without support. This is great news.

Amazing, he must be made of rubber. Very flexible, squashable rubber.

I'm not going to assume the challenger meant to do damage because we only have so many angles to go by, and none of them is anything like the one the player would have had himself. Messi's feet move so quickly that even that latest image doesn't convince me it was deliberate. When Maicon lost his teeth on Messi's shoulder some fans only shared the one clip that made it look possibly malicious, and didn't show Leo making the first move over to check he was okay, stay there and call off play either. I don't want to be reactionary like those people so I'll give the Czech the benefit of the doubt too.

Plenty of strapping on that ankle! He's out for 15 days anyway, we really should have played madrid's trick of doubling the number and making sure he doesn't go away for international duty

I am so angry
football without Messi is meaningless!!!

Agree on the part on banning the player as long as the injury he causes!
+ additional fine
+ salary of the criminal during the ban goes to the injured player
+ all the medical expenses
+ probation for the year; double the penalty if the criminal commits the similar crime during the probation
+ lawsuit!!!
