Yep, I've come to expect that from Messi these days. He is just that amazing.

To put how special he is into context - he's scored more than 5x what Xavi and Iniesta have managed combined this season and has the same number of assists as Iniesta and Xavi combined.

Nope. As much as he deserves it, it's a world cup year. Iniesta has a bigger chance despite being no way near as good as Messi last season. Based on the fact he scored in the world cup final he's probably favourite, and Sneijder is a strong shout simply for being part of Inter's treble winning team.

The award is full of shit though. Diego Milito won the UEFA Footballer of the Year award and Diego Forlan won the Golden Ball award - yet both will lose out to Iniesta/Sneijder. Only Messi deserves it ahead of them for being fucking sensational last season. As an individual, pisses on both, but team achievments come into it unfortunately.
