Messi needs a rest!

And with Copa America 2011 this summer, I don't know how he thinks he can come back next season and play 90 mins every game?

Messi obviously wants to score as many goals as possible and create a record that NO ONE will ever likely surpass in one season playing for Barcelona or any other club.

Bollocks does he. He's making up for the amount of games he missed in the first 3-4 seasons of his career, and did it occur to you he may not even need to rest? Look at 'Fat Frank' for us - his appearance record of 164 games was quite phenomenal, and he never needed a rest. Ronaldo and Messi seemingly have an unlimited energy tank.

You know the type of injuries Messi has had in the past! It is clear he needs to rest at some point!

This video is too funny, but also confusing in same time. I mean, wtf - our manager is asking a player's permission to sub him?

Messi is different to Cristiano with regards to fitness. the way Messi plays, with this free-roaming False9 position, it's easier on him physically. that's probably another reason why Pep moved him into the middle. when you're a wide player, you have to track the fullback as he runs. but as a CF, you have no one to track back. you can move and press and close down, but you have no one to follow. Messi spends most of the game moving around the entire of the opponent's half, but he moves when he wants to - all his movements are HIS choice, not enforced due to duty - so it's much easier on the body and mind, making him capable of extended periods of play.

Cristiano is like Frank. just a physical machine who can play 90 minutes on end, running all over the fuckin' place, and still play well.

Love Leo but Pep has to get to a better arrangement with the player...Gotta be smart and playing 90 minutes in a match whose outcome is relatively clear with a hectic schedule is not very wise.

Leo is really a special player. He wants to play and Pep knows that. He is like a kid playing with his friends after school.

Hahaha
Like they are friends. Pep is the best, if someone said that to Ferguson he would break his head after the game. :D

Why would anyone be surprised that a coach on the sideline asks his star player if he's tired enough to need to come out? That's all it was, and Messi was / is fine.
I'm pretty sure if Pep saw him hurting from a tackle or otherwise was certain he needed to come out, he wouldn't be asking permission he'd just make the sub and Messi is plainly not the type to cause any real problems over it if/when it happens. He's a 22 y/o athlete in just about the best shape he could be in, etc etc. Think twice before deciding you know what he can handle physically (better than he or the staff at FCB even).
