forget that semantically your argument doesn't work at all, let's just look at it on your desired playing field, as a (potential) fact:
drug abuse is, factually, the overuse of drugs for something other than their primary purpose. in the case of illegal narcotics (the type Maradona was so fond of) this is the only kind of use.
Messi used drugs for the explicit purpose of treating his growth hormone syndrome, this is what the drugs were meant for, and he stopped as soon as the syndrome had been fully treated. ergo, Lionel Messi has never abused drugs.
