Kocsis (Barca Legend) did it, when he scored 23 goals for Hungary in 1954 !

That Hungarian team was amazing. Its a shame they lost the 1954 world cup final to West Germany.
To give an idea of how much more attacking football was in those days. Kocsis scored 4 girls in the 8-3 win over West germany in the group stage of that very same world cup.
It's unlikely that record will ever be broken. Although...

Messi's goal average per game in the league this year is higher than last year, if his current average holds the season out he will score 55 goals ! : D

Of course Messi is not a complete saint but all those guys hating in that thread are just hating on Messi for no reason. They point out a couple times he's gone over easily but ignore that 90% of the time he tries to stay on his feet. Guys like Luis Suarez and Ronaldo dive the moment a finger is laid on them even if they could have scored had they stayed up.

Compared to Ronaldo he is, but thats his own fault not messi's.
People dont need to act like messi is some saint, in his behaviour he seems like a pretty regular guy who is still humble while alot of people would not have been in a position like that.
