Yes, that is exactly what I'm saying.

Messi is in a better shape now than he has ever been. He is not getting ''lazy''. He is working way harder in training now than he ever did. There is just NO point in tracking back, dropping to the midfield and pressing when he knows for a fact 90+% of the chances he creates will be wasted.

That is why Messi prefers to preserve his energy, so he can get us out of trouble when we need him (which he does all the time).

If he doesn't trust his teammates to put the ball into the net, he shall just be on his own, without participating in the buildup of the play or the attack, he shall just wait for his teammates to pass the ball to him so he can score himself. That's just so absurd and wrong on so many levels.

You are probably referring to Messi in FIFA. The real Messi we know doesn't do that. :)

heilrj or someone else should take that awesome Maradona video and add some Messi to it.

Compare the 2 players, Maradonas footage is of average quality but I feel like everything he does, Messi does better*.

* Except that world cup.

I was thinking the exact same thing during the game. I was hoping to see photos of him hanging out with his former players.

Does anyone have Messi's stats with the Argentina NT? Highly appreciated as I am debating with a bunch of snobs who believe Messi can only shine with Barca and that CR7 is a much better player because he shines wherever he goes and no matter who he is playing with.

Edit: Also CRonaldo's stats with RM and Portugal would be very helpful too.

Yeah , bayern clearly looked the better TEAM and that is what is truly important, football is a TEAM game so I would rather we have the best team in the world.
I save my praise for the day Messi is once again a player in the best team in the world.
