This 'Messi doesn't give 100%' has become so annoying now. Try focusing on some other player in the next game and see if they give '100%'.
Yeah, Messi gives just as much or much more than anyone else. And I take quality before running mindlessly 100% of the time, all day every day.

Almost carbon copy that against Valencia. Messi starts it -> Fabregas -> Neymar -> Messi finishes it.

Look at the clock, goes past 2 defenders like they are not there, and sets up Alexis. Probably the best thing I've seen all season. :worthy:

It's funny how the defenders just can't foul him, he just steamrolls everything. It's like an exact opposite of Neymar who falls from every touch.

The bottom Gif is the perfect example of how not messi and neymar chemistry should work. Mesii ignored Alexis, Who was clearly is much much better position to score, had he received a little through ball the full goal was infront of him.

The way the defender tries to block Messi from advancing, but can't handle him :worthy:
The first one actually tries to ass bump him like in hockey, and then Navarro tries to obstruct, hold and when that fails, claim Messi foul.

All three players obsturcting and holding just end up flying 360.

Messi actually chose Neymar cause he was to his left, he always prefers to pick out the player to his left with his left foot rather than the right.
Also because of his great balance and underrated strength he was able to score and get Alexis the third goal.
A weaker player would have dropped during each run.

Yeah, I would give higher chance of Neymar scoring there than Sanchez on the right. There is no really right or wrong decision in that, you just go what your instinct tells.

There is a right decision, not passing. ;)

On a serious note I felt he should have gone himself. Running at that speed he could have drawn a penalty, or taken a couple of more steps and shot.

Didn't get to watch the match but I feel like some forum members are forgetting that there is a champions league match on Wednesday. I don't blame Messi for trying to conserve his energy a bit. He must be dying to win the champions league again. Especially after he was injured and the team got obliterated by Bayern. Inb4 he scores 18 goals in this CL.

Lemon curry?
I don't care if Messi reserved his energy for those last minutes, he looked absolutely awful for the majority of the game. He looked pathetic and it pisses me off when I see him walking around nonchalantly. I don't care if he is the best in the world, I hate that type of attitude. It brings the team down morally. And so what he turns it on in the last 15 min, I guarantee if we are playing a team like Bayern in CL we won't have the opportunity to fight back with his last minute heroics because we will be down 2-3 goals. It's not the old days, teams have our number and we have to give everything at all times, not have that entitled attitude. If jet lag from internationals is the problem, then sit your midget ass down and let someone play who will press!
Honestly, I can't remember any important game (as in CL) where Messi only turned it on in the last 15 minutes, or wasn't giving his 100% until the end of the game, unless he was injured (Bayern).

Yeah, so he'll burn out and we'll have to play Cesc as false nine? Let him go 100% in the games we need him too, otherwise it doesn't matter as long as we win.

It's absolutely counterproductive to let Messi go to his limits in every single Liga game; this will not only result in him being exhausted/injured in time for the CL knock-out stages, but also might steal 1-2 years from his career. So far, he's shown enormous effort when he was needed, and when he didn't, he still contributed to the win (yesterday). I say let him rest when he can, he's doing enough already.

True, he should save some energy for the CL matches, especially if he's not needed that much.

Messi hardly ever goes for his limits in any game that is won by margins, or there isn't some goal scoring record to break. As soon as Barca leads with 2 goals, Messi almost always takes the foot off the gas somewhat. But that doesn't work really often because the team just doesn't seem to be able hold the lead, and he has to push once more.
