Pele - 75 goals in 53 games = 1.416%
Muller - 85 in 60 = 1.417
Messi - 84 in 64 (on-going) = 1.3125%

I wouldn't call it a 'lot less games'.

You have to also factor in that a chunk of Pele's goals were in the campeonato Paulista in which they played against semi-pro teams so he bagged 5 or 6 goals a match and a decent chunk of Muller's goals were in the DFB Pokal or w/e which is now a defunct competition.

DFB Pokal was not even a official competition. Was created because of the 72 Olympics to the players gain form. That "tournament" had a 7.7 goals per game average. Please!

A record is record, doesn't matter if he got to 85 in more matches. His ratio is still more than goal per game and that's not easy.

If we adjust to the competition GpG average, Messi's record is most impressive even GpG wise. Not to mention that more you play in the same period, less overall form or energy you have per game, which lessens GpG by default. Not to mention that all of Messi's goals have been against 1st level opposition, Müller scored 13 goals against regional 2nd level opposition, and Pele 60 goals against regional level opposition.

So Messi's record is easily the most impressive of the three, in any which way.

Btw. how do you get 1.416% from 75 goals in 53 games?

He played only 7 Copa del Rey games in 2012:
2 against Osasuna
2 vs Real Madrid
2 against Valencia
1 vs Athletic Bilabo
All are first division teams from one of the strongest leagues in the world (LFP or EPL).

If he had played against semi-pro teams like Pele or that 7.7 goals per game tournament of Muller, not only would his goal/game ratio would be better, he would be aiming for the 100 goal mark rather than the 90 one.

Sorry I think it should be 1.415 , I found the totals on another forum and copied and pasted them.
