What's funny is that he actually dribbled already more when people complained, but it took a lot of games in a row to people to actually notice it.

I agree with Elite's observation, often when there's no pressure, or the result doesn't matter as much, he seems to let go of some of his concentration and form. He lives for pressure and challenge, that's why he's the ultimate big game player.
spot on, the pathetic madrid press campaign against him is getting very boring, all to feed the Lisbon Ladyboy's ego !

Anyone noticed his reaction after being subbed? I don't know but he didn't look happy at all, and didn't shake Tata's hand either...

I saw a Bayern game this season where Pep changed Robben and he behaved just like Messi did yesterday..in other game Hummels was changed at HT by Klopp because he was playing horrible and the man looked absolutely miserable on the bench. I wonder if the Bayern or BVB fans have talked so much about this like we're doing.

Jupp Heynkes in Borussia Mönchengladbach when that club was a European powerhouse in the 1970s, he scored 292 goals in 400 games http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jupp_Heynckes. And Uwe Seeler who played in SV Hamburg, he scored 507 goals in 587 games http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamburger_SV and was the German national team star player in the 1960s. Also Jef Meermans in Anderlecht http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/RSC_Anderlecht scored 339 goals in 382 games. And Raoul Lambert in Club Brugge when it was one of the top clubs in Europe, he scored 270 goals in 458 games http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raoul_Lambert. And finally Ally McCoist, 355 goals in 581 games, at Rangers http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Rangers_F.C._records_and_statistics.

Messi on Facebook:

I didn't mean to make any gesture when Martino took me off.
Nobody likes to be out, but we must accept it because it is the best for our team.
What I will not accept is that certain media tell lies about any situation that happens around me

He's ordinary at finishing easy chances. Same with lower pressure situations. I think he may well score just about as many brilliant equalizers or go-ahead goals as he does easy finishes and tap ins.
It's a very very unusual and perfectly acceptable weakness to his game, that he's so much less lethal in front of goal when it doesn't matter as much.
That's my impression anyhow.

I think that's nonsense. Messi's great at finishing any chances, easy or hard, pressure or no pressure. He just had an off night, finishing-wise.

His conversionrate shows he is a great finisher.
Messi is letha as usual except fpr last night's game and the one against Valencia. Lets not imagine him to be like Alexis.

What to improve about his finishing? One unlucky game in terms of scoring doesn't mean he needs an improvement.

He missed a bunch of chances against Valencia in the second half as well. Messi is still only 26 so I'd expect that he can work on his game and improve for at least another 1 or 2 years.

Henrik Larrson could be added too although Celtic are not a top European club as such.

It would be great if you made a list of players with goals for all clubs and international games. Then you could have Henry on 400 goals, RVN on 382, Ronaldo on 414, Raul on 420 etc. I have been counting down to these targets.

I want to work on a list that includes players with 400-450+ official goals for club and country (only senior level).
But, it seems difficult to get the exact number of goals of some of the players like Josef Bican...

Players with 600+ official goals for club & country (senior level, 1st level championships):

Players Goals Games
1 Pele 757 815
2 Romario 749 972
3 Josef Bican 728 481 (?)
4 Puskas 709 720
5 Gerd Muller 640 723
..........

Messi 360 in 470 games.
