He played the workhorse part today suprisingly, he also took the ball from Ronaldo a couple if times and was putting on the pressure all game, still, he should not be used at RW.

The thing is the best player of all time should not be used as a workhorse, there is a reason why Messi has been put in the middle by guardiola

This. One aspect of Messi that is underrated. He is one of the toughest guys on this team.

Tata got him to play more a play maker role. Some of his thru passes were close to sneaking by the last line of defence but Real did well to intercept otherwise he would of opened them up like a can of worms.

He was good today, his through balls were a bit off though.

I think it was a great move by Tata to put Messi on the right. He's clearly not in top shape, putting him in the centre would've meant that the entire Madrid team collapses on him. He is currently not good enough to go through a packed defence, and he would also have choked the ball off the wide players.

Putting him wide meant that he wasn't involved to the same extent (which was good) and it also spread Madrid's defence evenly across the pitch.

Interesting game for Messi. Not too threatening offensively but he contributed a lot defensively and in the build-up. Good to see that he doesn't see himself above that kind of play and was very willing to defend along with his team mates!
