I just remembered.. his first serious injury his leg started against Benfica last year. He left the pitch and was in alot of pain.

From that moment on, it only got worse.

He needs to just stop playing altogether for an extended period of time none of this "good enough" shit otherwise it will just keep happening and keep getting worse.

bottom line coaches and especially messi (in the future)need to realize he can not play every game and games like this he should not play.
i`m afraid if messi don`t rest more he will not be the same again.
i need another drink im sad for messi

Why can't he? He's 26. Players his age do play every week. He's had rest, the issues are down to something else, which is down to Barcelona's medical team to solve.

I'm glad we all care about Barcelona's results in the next games without Messi, the possible prospect of a Messi-less Barcelona in the CL knockout rounds later in the season etc. and not about Ronaldo, Ribery and the Ballon d'Or like the true Barcelona fans that we all are.

I'm not really sure what point you're attempting to make.

That this Ballon D'Or debate is freaking ridiculous, considering we should worry more about Messi being out injured for Barca. He could drop dead and people would still discuss Ballon D'Or chances.

(Yes, I'm exaggerating, but you get my point).

That was an impact injury in the bone of the knee. Nothing in the muscles.

Ibra should win the Ballon D'Or.

These kind of injuries are fucked up. Just look ar Robben: he had them several years. Even Cesc had several during 1-2 seasons in Arsenal.

Like I said a page or two back, I couldn't care less about the Ballon D'or. I am glad that without Messi we still carry a threat this season though.

We have to hope Barca actually take the right action and get Leo to different specialists and do everything possible to repair him, otherwise If the club just keep sweeping it under the carpet, then Leo's career at Barca could be limited or even over.

He has physically peaked at 20-25 and now will need some work if he is to keep playing past 30.

Hope not but its beginning to look this way.

So? Doesn't matter if he's injury prone. Healthier = superior. And the margin between them is not that big anyway.

That you for making me laugh. The difference is huge. Messi plays the way we all played as kids, how you can say the difference is not that big is beyond me.

i feel like a right ass writing this NOW but when you look at the team we were playing and that pitch, messi should not have played in this game easy to say now but Hindsight is a great thing.

More than the physical play and the field, the fact that Tata instructed a kick-and-chase end-to-end garbage game that was frantic from the outset is what got Messi injured. Had Barca controlled the game as usual, and simply exploited Betis' high line, Messi could have controlled his encounters, rather than be banged about garbage-collecting. Given that Messi was coming back from injury and the tactical plan, I agree that Messi should have been on the bench.
