In 2011-12:

Messi: 57 goals, 30 assists for Barca and Argentina.
C.Ronaldo: 56 goals, 16 assists for RM and POR.

Although, Inidvidually its not just about the number of goals... Dribbles, passes, chances created, influence on his team, the QUALITY of goals and assists (Messi's goal against RM at the Bernabeu???)

Trophies:
-Individual:
Messi UCL Top Scorer vs C.Ronaldo LIga topscorer

- Team:
Messi: LIGA + UCL
CRonaldo: Cup

Messi was better individually and trophy wise!

2010-2011 ?

30 assists, that's just sick. 57 goals and 30 assists, surely the most complete player out there.

Messi wins 12-13 European Golden Shoe-award as league top scorer in Europe with 46 goals. It's his 3rd which is more than anyone else has. It also breaks the record of the difference between the first and second with 12 goals, as the second one was Cristiano Ronaldo with 34 goals. The old record of 11 goals happened in 76-77, between Georgescu with 47 goals and Varady with 36 goals. Which is unbelievable considering that Messi was injured or half fit the last 2 months of the season. :worthy:

European Golden Shoe 1967-2013

3 Lionel Messi

2 Eusébio
Gerd Müller
Dudu Georgescu
Fernando Gomes
Ally McCoist
Mário Jardel
Thierry Henry
Diego Forlán
Cristiano Ronaldo

Lionel Messi, who's recovering from a thigh muscle injury since last month, will get the medical green light today. #fcblive [sport]

I don't understand why people mention stats or trophies when they talk about who deserves the Balon d'or. For me, its all about how they perform. And goals and assist is just a little part of that. I mean, if it was about stats then Zidane would have never won the trophy seeing as his stas were really poor for such a great player. And when it comes to performances, Messi beats C.Ronaldo pretty easily..

Vilanova: "Messi will leave already today for Argentina. He doesn't yet have the medical green light, the doctors of ARG will decide."
