And to think that some people would not feel too bad if he left us... It would be completely heartbreaking. Luckily he seems very happy and I think the chances of that happening really went down after tonight, if they weren't already low enough.

Now we just need to enjoy this boost and keep ourselves afloat until we get a new board and the transferban expires, and then we can get back to the top - with Messi as captain for many, many years.

The voting is usually wrapped up around this time of year. Last year the voting deadline was November 15th, but Blatter conveniently extended it to November 29th, which turned out to benefit Ronaldo decisively.
