Fantastic performance form Messi. But even more fantastic for me is that he seemed so much more confident and willing to play his best football that almost made me dream again with my eyes wide open of seing him again playing like in his prime !

Messi is the GOAT. Simple as that.

He just looks really fit. He's running a lot and seems genuinely happy. Messi is happy, I'm happy, we're happy, barca is happy, ronaldo is crying.

Madrid press scouring records and tape looking for more Raul goals.... they have then decided to add up all goals scored by any and all players named Raul... :coffee:

Don't think he's ever going to match 2012 levels, and that doesn't mean a decline. That was such a sublime year, aided and contributed by so many factors coming together to form a perfect storm, I really doubt something like that will ever be matched or surpassed, ever, by anyone, including him.

It's not about particularly matching 2012 levels (those numbers are just too ridiculous). It's returning to the times where he'd lead Barcelona to trophies as well as be our talisman and magician throughout the CL. Since we're not on top of football anymore, there are many more matches where we have to fight tooth and nail to get the win. I want to see the Messi storm more often in those bigger/tougher matches where we face more adversity and improve vastly from that disappointing 13/14 season.

He's started that in 14/15. He is our biggest creative force and began the season with crazy assisting and is now scoring headline hat tricks. He's also performed in many of our tougher fixtures (PSG, Athletic, Sevilla, Villarreal) though sadly not the Clasico. Even if he doesn't reach 2012 levels, Messi being at his best is him producing magic in most games consistently and at the highest levels. He has done that so far but it's in the second half of the season that this needs to continue. I feel like he can have an individual season on par with 10/11 if he accumulates the numbers as well as noteworthy performances that make this season one to remember for him.

penaldo is beyond reach this season and this year. Not counting the 8 penalties NOT GIVEN to barça in la liga for the franco referees

Is messi really on 21 goals? I thought the gap between them was much bigger than that with the hype ronaldo has been getting.

They re-opened the votings last season because of C.Ronaldo's hattrick against Sweden, so I don't see why they shouldn't do it for Messi's hattrick against Sevilla and Apoel :coffee:

They re-opened the voting because Messi was the winner in the 1st voting.

Yup, agreed on all accounts.

Well, Messi scored 6 goals in less than 1 week, that'll close any gap

More surprisingly, in the 2014 calendar year Messi has scored 52 goals for club and country, Cristiano has 54. Quite surprising for a so called Messi bad form and Cristiano on best form.

The smear campaign is huge and has worked.

This makes his probable loss of the Balon' Dor even worse since he was more important to Barca and Argentina than Ronaldo was to Madrid :(.
