It's too late. The voting closed one day before this hattrick against Sevilla. CR is going to win. The sooner you guys accept it, the less it will hurt in january.

I care about trophies. That´s the most important.

Messiah, another 3 against Valencia? With 2 penalties please.

Good play tonight...could have scored more with couple of amazing dribbles in the box. Bravo Leo.

Also should have had a couple of assists too. He set up Suarez with one point blank shot and another player.

Simply GOAT.

Hopefully breaking these records now allow him to play carefree.

Messi is BEAST. He has been constantly good this season - before he gave many assists, now he started scoring many goals. It's just amazing to see such a player irl!! In Messi's case impossible is nothing!!

Outside of 3-4 games, he has been legendary as usual. Goals give him the headlines, but his overall play has been superb.

In reality Ronaldo has been scoring easier than Messi for more than a year now but the main factors are him being in a better team with clear tactics while Barca has looked poorer for a long time overall, less injuries and a lot more penalties of course.
However, if you get the media/fan impression the difference is huge now, Ronaldo is still going strong while Messi, despite still being a good player is nowhwere near his previous level and therefore way below Ronaldo currently (this was the general opinion up until these last two games and the records that came along with it).

When you take into account the stats though, the difference is very small, take away the penalties and there is none, so why when Messi breaks a liga/cl record people shrug it off with "its just la liga/Sevilla/Apoel" when Ronaldo gets imense praise and media attention for meaningless braces and hattricks completed with penalties, gets a lot of love for his game despite always being mediocre or invisible outside his goals?

Last years ballon do'r was the biggest pity biased campaign I have ever seen and this year its the same, I do feel you can make a case for him this year though, but why is it such a locked win according to people? La decima was won by Ramos and the overall team, he was poor in the final and the clown penalty was like almost all his other cl goals, stattpadding. Besides, most were scored in 2013.
So what remains is slightly better stats than Messi, la liga topscorer, third place and a copa he didnt have any effect on, a really poor wc despite having most shots.

But take away all that and a blind person can still see Messi is 5 times the footballer he is, our whole offense has better footballers, so are several Madrid players.
In the end thats the most important thing to me, who is the best football player in the world? Easily Messi, even Madridista's know.
Take his general positive gentleman attitude and genious talent compared to Ronaldo who is a rolemodel for 2 things, hard work and selfi absored narcissistic behaviour. Its clear who is the better ambasadeur.

Its sucks that we need to talk about him constantly though when Messi achieves something and vice versa, it would be much better to not add so much value to an onlogical prize like the ballon d'or, it takes away what the game should be about, team accomplishments rather than individual.

When he broke the Cesar record: 3 goals vs Granada
When he broke the El Clasico record: 3 goals against madrid
When he broke Zarra´s record: 3 goals against Sevilla
When he broke Raul´s record: 3 goals against Apoel

Batistuta: well, you know the drill.

Idk who asked for the statistic but I recall that someone did and here it is: He ran 8.62km tonight (lower than every outfield starter aside from CB's and Rakitic who was subbed) but he was a lot more involved than what that stat suggests with 127 touches (tied with Masch for 2nd most touches only behind Alves).

This goes to show that the distance covered stat isn't too important unless it's dipping dangerously low (Pinto zones). Messi having more touches, involvement, and responsibility with less exertion is spectacular IMO.
