Not a good day but he did try. As I said in the chat, Messi's game consisted of: 87 touches, 2 tackles, 6 dribbles (though his dribbling was shit), and several attempts to create chances with direct balls. He did create 3 or so great ones that were either fucked up by teammates or called off by the ref. He was the only one dropping deep (about 40m from goal) towards the end to pick the ball up and drive forward.
Everything was going against him today. Malaga contained him to the wing, forced a style of attack that doesn't suit him, and marked him with multiple guys to mitigate his dribbling channels. This was an extremely poor game by Leo, but that's all. We expect him to do better but he tried here, no doubt.
