His game is stale IMO, always coming from the right cutting in, everytime, barely ever mixes it up, good defenses will mark him out of games, i think even Arjen Robben is more unpredictable these days, i've thought this for yonks.

I also called his lazyness years ago and was flamed to hell. Not good to see in my eyes.

It was almost as if he was sulking last night. Unhappy with what Tata said to him, or where he was asked to play? Terrible.

Since when every criticism is hate? I love Messi, but last night and many other games beore he showed no effort at all.

Criticism is one thing, making up stuffs, overanalysis and calling to be sold is another thing. Messi had some poor games this season (Valencia, Valladolid, Atletico) but going too far saying stuffs like he's lost motivation of the game, he's saving himself for WC, it's the coach's fault that he miss dozen balls in a game...IMO is digging too much into it. He's a human after all, not even Maradona was at 100% in every match.

There's a difference between having an off night and not giving a shit. I think people can tell. OK guys like cesc and iniesta were poor but at least they were putting effort in.

Guys like you think Messi is untouchable. If he deserves criticism he should get it like everyone else.

STAT OF THE DAY: Messi ran just 6.8 km against @Atleti. Only a little more than keeper Jose Manuel Pinto (5.4 km).

6,8km.. you guys act like this is the first time he does this? There must have been like 5-10 games this season where he covered similar amounts of ground, maybe even less. In fact, this type of behaviour dates back to his last season under Guardiola. At least yesterday he got himself in a few scoring positions, besides penalties.

Not one player is bigger than the team. Not a single one. If you put yourself above the team, you have no place in it, no matter how good you are. It's just so destructive in other areas if you do. One of the best things Guardiola did was getting rid of Ronaldinho and creating a team where every single player worked their ass of for one another.

Messi as an individual is so mind blowingly good that the other, fantastic players on our team accept that they have to run for him. That will stop as soon as Messi stops delivering and that's getting more sporadic by the week. He's playing like a diva nowadays and expects everyone in Barcelona to bow for him, not only his teammates but also the coaching staff and the board. That's not a healthy situation what so ever and in my book that's totally unacceptable.

I would've played exactly like him if the manager's plan was for him not to be involved so much.

What a ridiculous comment...

First of all how do you know Martino's plan was for Messi to not be involved? I mean I'm one of the people who think he isn't the right man for Barca and should be replaced but do you honestly think he's so stupid that his plan for this match was for Messi to be uninvolved?

And even if that were the case - that Martino thought for the good of the team Messi should have a less involved role - it's then okay for Messi to basically say screw you and show no effort at all?

There are plenty of ridiculous comments after every game Barca loses but this one might just top them all!

He should work his ass off from now. Last 2 years he has taken everything very lightly. He needs a manager who can motivate him and bring the hunger back. The criticism he has been getting should make him angry and motivate him to work harder. With this attitude it will be very difficult for him to remain the best player in the world.

Only someone stupid think I think like that. I was one of his biggest critics after the loss to Valencia where people said he was "bossing" it while he was missing balls left and right.

BTW Iniesta didn't put much effort, as you call it, unless you call "getting the ball and losing it" one. Cesc tried, even though he was subbed off earlier more because the other two were bigger names than him.
