Messi in the Xavi role is a waste. The best and most clinical scorer in the team, and you drop him deep in the midfield. Not very good IMO.

It's true, not enough defensive work, not enough movement. Xavi runs twice what Messi does during a game

And in a midfield role he wouldn't run more? I'm sure he would if the role worked for him. Right now though he's too good not to have in front of goal.. maybe as a number 10 but not in Xavi's position yet.

Iniesta is almost useless in defense and we all still love him. Like Flavia said, a double pivot would make it so Messi didn't have to be depended on to defend.

Also, I don't think Messi would be good in Xavi's position. I'm thinking as a classic 10.

I mean if Marca claim that the deal is done, then there might be something to it. Apparently he was quoted as saying that it would be a pleasure to play with Messi at Barcelona.
