Fucking Ronaldo does more off the ball than Messi does right now

******* Ronaldo does more off the ball cause he is a ******* winger and thats his ******* job. I wonder if you guys would like to see Messi sold and consistently knocking us out of the CL with his new team

Suarez did it when he was half-fit coming back from injury and did it twice against a much better English squad. For his talent, he should have lit Iran up much more than a solo goal to save the day at the last minute.

There are many players who can pull out games on their own even when they aren't playing that great. And like others have said, this is by far the easiest group for any of the other favorite teams to win the tournament. The fact that he has only scored two goals against the likes of Iran and Bosnia is disappointing to say the least.
Tell me again how England parked the airbus against Uraguay and had 4 people covering Suarez at all times

Argentina needs to improve much as a team, Messi cant win every game by himself, not when they are up against the top sides.

Why do you guys keep comparing suarez to messi

Suarez doesnt get guarded like Messi at all, Leos has it harder. They are more afraid of him.

I think it should be plain obvious to anyone even the biggest Messi fanboys that he simply is not the same player he was before the last injury he suffered. If you claim otherwise then you forgot what a player he used to be.
His individual brilliance diminished by some margin, while he still scores decisive goals and lots of goals, its not as it used to be.
Whether we have seen the best prime Messi already or he will stll comeback is a question nobody can answer, but it is clear as day that his current form is not up there with the best version of him.
He is probably still the best player in the world, but now it even became debatable with some really in form players like Suarez.. well even if he is the best, the margin is small... it used to be HUGE.. nobody came even close. Remember the way he played before his injury, he was like a mad dog ( like that famous video of him ), now he is so passive and is almost afraid to try to go all out.
He still has some flashes of brilliance, but thats not it. Perhaps his injury took some tool on him physicaly, perhaps he is not in form, perhaps he is too passive because he is afraid of another injury.. either way.. he is not the same player, individualy he is still great, but he used to be a step above that.

This. You summed it up much better than I would have.

Messi is not in his best form right now but that's all it is in my opinion. I don't doubt that he will get back to his best level soon enough.

He is still the best in the world and the gap is still huge, look at the space the likes of Robben and Suarez get in games, if Messi had that space he would kill the opposition. If you remember Robbens goals this world cup he has been in acres of space. If Robben or Suarez had to operate in the space Messi does then you would never hear of them.

This claim makes me wonder, why in the world do opposing teams only do this to Messi and nobody else, even Ronaldo?

Perhaps it is because they know what Messi is capable of doing once given space. But then again, why not to Ronaldo etc. who are equally, maybe just a tad less lethal than Messi?

Either way Messi not having much off the ball movement (it is certainly not about running for the sake if running or getting that distance covered number up) does not help, it will only make it easier for the opposing team to neutralize him and close him down.

I've been saying this thing for a while now. Ever since his last injury he has not been the same. I don't know why the injury isn't brought up more, that is the clear factor to me from when Messi went from how he USED to play to how he's playing now. Ever since he's come back at the start of this year, he's not been the same. Even the last part of 2013 he wasn't the same after the first injuries.

I really hope he can find his old form again. But losing months of game time and rhythm seems to have affected him, and he hasn't fully bounced back yet. It's just not the same watching him now as it was a year and a half-2 years ago.

I dont' know, I still feel he can dig himself back to a higher level, I just think it'll take a little more time. Maybe he still needs more time to mentally fully recover from his injury problems. It's hard to say exactly what the problem is from the outside, but I don't think Messi has completley lost how he used to play, he just needs bring it out again.

Ok so you think he's past his best, then just accept that and enjoy him for what he is now.

This thread has become really boring and repetitive. Only 3 more days until we see the magician play again :party1:

Although Messi and Aguero are best buddies, Messi needs Higuain more than Aguero to atleast have a go at the WC. I don't know what Aguero is doing at all. It looks like Sabella is eager to find out " Can a player, all by HIMSELF win the WC in the 21 st century". And coming to the criticism, some people say here that "Messi at younger age used to run, run, play every goddammn match. Let it be Cordoba or Real Madrid. He would play. Since he is human(Although his splendid performance obscure our view), our technical team advised/suggested(more aptly ;)) to pick the moments". And another group of people here, blame him for his of the ball movement, (Some even say, he is waiting for taxi etc). And then there's me who feels that, Messi will play with his heart/soul when team plays with "Messi as main focus". Expect same Messi next season, if attacks are initiated via left flank.

I don't know how many observed this pattern: Messi tracked back(lastly) vs Manchester City at Camp Nou. Why?. because Aguero had robbed the ball off Messi seconds before. So, if he makes mistake, he will try hard to correct it otherwise he dont care. So, I hope we try playing with Messi as a focus and see what happens then.

P.S: Excuse me for the coherency.
