So there is a renewal going on? Didn't Leo just renew his contract earlier this year?

Diego Maradona Confident of Argentina Triumph in Brazil World Cup

Former Argentina international Diego Maradona is confident Lionel Messi will lead his country to World Cup glory after almost 30 years.

Diego Maradona says Argentina will win the World Cup in Brazil, but that they cannot ignore the threat posed by Spain and Italy. The Albiceleste qualified in pole position from the Conmebol standings and were drawn in Group F alongside Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iran and Nigeria for next year's showpiece in Brazil.

Argentina last won the World Cup in 1986, beating West Germany 3-2 in the final, and Maradona, who played in the Mexico tournament, believes the current national team can repeat the feat his side managed.

"There will be a repeat of 1986 in Brazil. Argentina will be world champions. Germany and Netherlands are also very good, both Spain and Italy cannot be ignored," he told Sport. Maradona also says his country's people do not appreciate what they have in Barcelona star Lionel Messi.

He added: "We Argentines don't know how to enjoy what we have, in football and in life in general. There's always something to compare it to. Messi should be left alone, don't compare him any more."
