Jorge Messi (father): "If Barça say 'we have an offer, we want to sell', we'd look into it, but we don't think about leaving. Leo is happy."

he would an immense player even at 36. with his passing and vision, he can be our ryan giggs. Although i see him playing him in much deeper position as he ages

yeah with 30+ he will still have great skills an passing, but without his quickness and pace he will be only 50% of prime Messi.

--> see Ronaldinho

Chief Of Footballing Matters
Is Messi 'Unbuyable'? - Any deal would cost upwards of 400m euros

Messi's recent statement in which he hinted at the possibility of him leaving the club has set off alarm bells at 'Can Barça'.

However, what he wants is one thing, and the realities of football are another.

Prising the Argentine away from Barcelona would be no easy feat, especially after he signed a new deal with the club this summer worth a cool 20m euros per season after tax. Any deal to sign the striker would depend on a number of factors, but would in any case cost upwards of 400m euros.

A deal would first have to be agreed with Barcelona, something unlikely given that the president who sold him would go down in club history, possibly for all the wrong reasons. A transfer fee could be agreed at around 150m euros, plus the player's salary. Leo costs 50m euros per season before tax, a total of 250m euros over five seasons. That's if Leo agrees to a change of scenery without a pay rise.

Very few clubs could offer that kind of money; in fact, only two.

Manchester City: It was never really on the cards and even less so now the Argentine has signed a new deal. Soriano isn't going to break the bank.

PSG: They are not short of money. Their problem would be not breaching FIFA Fair Play Regulations, especially after their problem over the summer.

If messi goes up for sale. I think he"s going to go the EPL, Not to PSG. Its going to be Man City(Considering Aguero, Demichellis, Zabaleta, toure) if they bid for him. That leaves Chelsea who already bid for him before. Though NO real barca fan wants him to go :( :messi:

""Chelsea launched a stunning £118m (€150m) bid to buy Lionel Messi from Barcelona during the summer transfer window.

According to reports in Catalonia, the Blues submitted the cheeky bid for Messi due to his strained relations with the Barcelona board following last season's frustrating campaign which saw some of the club's fans criticise him for below-part performances.

Catalan channel TV3 aired a programme called Efectivament revealing that Jose Mourinho wanted to exploit Messi's then uncertain situation and persuaded owner Roman Abramovich to make an offer to the Catalan club.

However, neither Barcelona top brass or the 27-year-old were interested in the deal crushing Mourinho's faint hopes. """

One thing I noticed and that is noteworthy taking the recent statements from Messi into consideration, is that the background of www.fcbarcelona.com is a picture of Neymar to the left and Suarez to the right looking like two pillars. When you have the best player in the world (and all time) on your team who also have one of the most recognizable faces in the world, why wouldn't he even appear on your teams webpage background at all as one of the figureheads of Barca?

It seems very odd to me, especially if we're talking about the idea of this board slowly pushing Messi out of Barca in more or less direct ways. Sure Messi is featured in a news article in the middle, but that's going to get replaced soon enough and then there's just Neymar and Suarez left as the main guys fronting the Barca site. Makes no sense.

I don't feel he is 'carrying' the team. Certainly didn't look that way against Almeria.

And he could have double the goals he has got had he taken his chances.

I want him to stay, but it's not like we can't live without him. This isn't 2011.
