I didn't watch the match. How did he play? Whoscored gave him a very good score, and says he made 11 dribbles (!), but I heard he missed a sitter at some point. What's the deal?

Does anyone know why he got a yc? I'm still confused.

For not stopping play while the ref had whistled for a corner....even though no one heard him...

AFA should appeal this because Messi will miss the final if he gets carded in the SF.

Illegal dribbling.

FIFA Guidelines, Section 22, Addendum 2.5:
If a player with the ball performs a sequence of dribbles that the referee estimates is too impossible to believe, the referee is in his right to estimate some manner of witchcraft or wizardry was involved in the play and can award a yellow card, and in some extreme circumstances, a red as well.

His dribbles today though... Something that only he can do, it would be so unfair to him if his nt would have gotten disqualified today based on how much he tried today, he wanted to win this so badly. Congrats to him and argentina, they deserve to go through

This referee let way too much dirty play pass. It's okay to let a game breathe, but this was inviting a storm. Very happy that the game didn't get rougher than it did and that no one got injured.

Fantastic game by Messi, by the way. Had some mind-blowing dribles and great defense cutting passes, though it was frustrating to see Pastore or Di Maria wasting the opportunities he created again and again.

He was ok. Missed the best chance of the match and beside some tricks here and there couldn't impose his presence much into the game. I am not very happy with his performance. Specially that free header he missed. Could do much better there. Picked the wrong side to head the ball in.

Do they hire local referees or something? Same thug that let Peru murder Neymar. What a piece of shit.

He didn't so much miss the header as Ospina did a fantastic job of scrambling and saving it. That was some insane goalkeeping.

Also really disagree that he didn't impose his presence. He did, but most of his good moments were followed by poor ones from the other forwards who mucked up the attacking chances. Pastore, Di Maria and Aguero were really bad.

For Messi's standards he still need to do much better and lessen his mistakes. He is no ordinary player. He needs to bail his team out when the time gets tough. I knew Colombia is gonna sit back and take the match to the penalties. Messi and the others had to take advantage of every chance they had in 90 minutes. I think he didn't take that header well. Sure Ospina did great there, but for someone as smart as Messi he took that header way too lightly, heading it straight where Ospina could make a save instead of where Ospina not having a chance to stop the ball.
