I'm looking at it from a Barca PoV and also the fact that calling him up before he is ready could exacerbate the injury. How that's ridiculous beats me

That's fine. But it's not about Tata, it's about whoever the current coach is. No coach in their right mind would rule out Messi as long as there's even the slightest bit of possibility that he might recover in time. These are estimates we're talking about, not numbers set in stone, and the NT games are a long way ahead. Nobody knows what's going to happen by then, not me, not you, not the doctors and not Tata. That's the entire point.

The entire point is that he is pre-empting messi's recovery and putting undue time on that recovery when it is essential that he is 100% fit in his return. Regardless of what games are coming up, he can't be rushed. Whether it's internationals or even the clasico, that's the case

+1, definitely not worth it. The last thing we need is a Leo under pressure to perform from the get go, forcing himself. Honestly, looking at our form, loosing at the Bernabeu is probable, even with Messi at 100%, so rather he took his time and hit max form when it counts the most

Sadly that pressure is coming from argentina

Messi's knee isn't reading Tata's statements on Twitter. He will either recover or not recover in time, and that won't change according to what the coach hoped for a month earlier.

Messi surely is. He also knows that arg need him, and Tata only said that because of the big failure of those 2 matches without him. Had the argies won those games, Tata's speech would be quite different. As the coach, he should be protecting his recovery, and not wanting him to be "ready" 2 weeks before the recovery schedule, just to save his job.
