That's the only thing missing in his play these days, but not like he needs to be fast anyway, he's facing 5 players in front of him every time he gets the ball, acceleration wouldn't do much for him in those situations.

He is still that fast, just he doesn't use it that much
Game against Espanyol away in Copa showed that he is fast like bolt

Great video, but Málaga never had Kameni back then...

It's much harder to beat them nowadays.

You're welcome
Honestly,

I think Messi had a crashcourse in Poker and now thinks in terms of risk vs. reward and long-term profitability. He's picking his moments and conserving his energy for stronger opponents or opponents that suit his style. At one time figuring he can easily score at this opponent and the other time thinking it's better here that I set-up Neymar or Suarez since they are better suited. I think he figures we might equalize a game or two that way but in the long-term have the best option of winning the treble.

I dunno.

He kind of confirmed this in that Argentinian interview where he said he was very aware of his playing style.

Messi is definitely a very cerebral player. Also the accusations of laziness on the pitch are the ones that rile him up most. I love that Messi rarely explicitly defended himself on this issue. Sometimes a good "fuck you" is the best answer.
