Let's be real, he only did it because he knows he (and his teammate) is shit at penalties.
Nah he just wanted to pay homage to Cruyff.

Yeah it must be a coincidence that the team has missed a lot of penalties recently
Cruyff posted some news about his cancer fighting this week.
Yeah I bet Messi and Neymar looked up Cruyff's twitter and decided to do a penalty like him. Absolutely nothing to do with Neymar and Messi hovering around a 50% conversion rate this season
You're right, it has nothing to do with the conversion rate. Because why would Messi step up if he didn't feel comfortable taking it? This was planned.
It was planned because they realized they have been missing a lot recently and made a decision to rectify it. It's pretty great that they were proactive and decided to fix the problem. Not sure how this is a bad thing
Why the hell would they plan that because Messi has been missing? Just let Suarez take it then.
Because this way it's pretty much a guaranteed goal?
Then why don't teams do this more often?

I have wondered on many occasions. It's probably because Cruyff doesn't defeat cancer every week.
Enrique also hinted on that, footy. He knew they were going to do that, and mentioned Cruyff too.
