Now that the season is over i can answer this taking into account production, consistency, succes (trophies) and being decisive:

Best La Liga campaign:
1. 2012-13
2. 2014-15
3. 2011-12

Best Champions League campaign:
1. 2010-11
2. 2014-15
3. 2011-12

Best campaign overall:
1. 2014-15
2. 2011-12

I think, for me, it would've taken a bit more of a legendary CL final performance from him to get this year above 2011-2012 (something like his performance in the 2011 CL finals or in this year CdR finals). Not that he wasn't good today, of course.

I argue that this was clearly his best CL campaign. Remember he was legendary in games he didn't score nor assist (Man U, PSG). Tied for highest goals and assists, and had most chances created and take ons.

He was by far and away the best player in the biggest tournament throughout the entire tournament.

Messi has illustrated time and time again you don't need to score to make a huge impact. He wasn't his GOAT mode self today, but all 3 goals he had a hand in.

First goal started with his pass from one side to the other, 2nd goal b/c Buffon couldn't contain the shot, and 3rd goal he triggered the pass to Neymar for the counter.

I get that. He was definitely good today. My point was just, as you said, "he wasn't his GOAT mode self today." And I think 2011-2012 was so good that I would only have put 2014-2015 above it if he had been in GOAT mode in the CL final. I said that before the final, and I am just reiterating it after he had a match that was good (and obviously enough for us to win!!!), but not legendary.

Note that this is all relative. Saying Messi's 2011-2012 was better than his 2014-2015 is not a criticism of Messi. His 2014-2015 was one of the greatest seasons a player has ever had; I just think his 2011-2012 was even a tad better.

What made this season Leo's best was how he was the catalyst that turned around a season where disaster was expected, not the treble.

Remember, we weren't even top 3 favorites when the CL quarters began. Many picked Real, Bayern, and Chelsea as stronger favorites.

Messi's overall dominance and consistency this season (even in games he didn't score - like tonight) made this his best UCL campaign, and best season ever. Goals don't define a player of Messi's stature and dominance.
