Cheers Barto. I like how you seemingly started out more reasonable but ended off just as absurdly . Going all the way back to the Inter ties every time we don't win, that he doesn't care rears it's ugly head. Usually with some comparison with national team games. Until of course Argentina fall at the final hurdle and then it's the Argentina fans with the acusations. For a player who clearly doesn't care about anything he has done OK. Imagine if he cared about any thing, he might have been one of the most decorated athletes in history. Oh wait.

hm then what do you think is causing him to just "walk" in the matches? and i did not say that he was always like that.. the example with inter is bad because it was just one match or two.. even if he didn't care about these matches, it wouldn't be right to say so, because it was just one game. here its different. there are a whole range of games in wich he is just casually strolling around.. some say he is tired, some say he doesn't need to go all in against weaker opponents (whereby they stay silent if we lose such games :) ) and for me its just a problem in his head caused of..i don't know..private problems and etc..

We will soon know what Leos problem is, the whole "he's just tired" arguement will lose its value if he plays 90 mins on the remaining games

Messi doesn't get benched even when he's tired, so him playing all the remaining minutes of this season won't answer anything on that issue. His problem is tiredness and plain bad form, which happens. You don't have to go back many weeks before you see him playing exceptionally well.

People need to stop overreacting when it comes to Messi. He's allowed to be in a bad slump as well without the sky falling and him being "past it". Bad form happens to all players, has always happened and will continue to happen as long as there exists a thing called sport.

but if he's tired why doesn't he rest? That just doesn't make sense at all and I'm surprised Lucho doesn't have the balls to bench him, barca should try their best to preserve Messi the best they can, a fresh Messi is better than a walking zombie Messi like the one we've seen these past few games.

Anyone can be in a bad form, they could go on streaks without scoring etcc but that doesn't excuse them to not give it their all, which messi hasn't been doing lately tbh

but if he's tired why doesn't he rest?

Because he will get angry or sad, or who knows what...

It is hard to explain, but that's how it goes.

He is "a psycho" in that part.
If he is tired, he still wants to play all the time. Whether it is ego, or chasing every possible record out there, or his love for Barca, or love for football, or he is just an idiot (sorry Messi for harsh words) who doesn't understand that he needs to rest sometimes, it is hard to guess.

But one thing which we do know is:
= if you try to bench him even though he has an ankle injury, muscle problems, a high fever or if he is vomiting during a match, he will get angry.
And then there is a chance that we will lose him, that he will ask for a transfer or something like that, that he will get mad, sad, unhappy, unmotivated (I am maybe rambling now, but you get the point).

In shorter:
= for some reason, he always wants to play and he either doesn't realize how tired/injured he is sometimes.
Or he realizes that, but he still wants to play all the time, even though it will hurt both to him and to the team on long run.

And for now, nobody (from coaches) figured out a way how to tell him that or how to bench him (for his own and team's good) in some matches, when we need to rest him.

He is the best player who has ever played the game, and when on-form, nobody can stop him.
He turned Barca into the best team in the world.
Because of his strengths (when on-form), everyone (coaches) are scared of him, of his reaction and nobody wants to risk with benching him...

I don't see why we can't have this debate.

Messi is the best I've seen and has been a huge factor in our success. However he is human and in pro football everyone has their expiry date.

Once again I ask...

Do we just wait for him to decline and pay his huge wages? If he continues to decline we will eventually end up selling him for some ridiculously low price or we can cash in while the price is right.

He will still look great against lesser teams however I fee he will go missing against bigger sides as he ages.

Also I hate the fact that no manager can stand upto Messi.

Last season we saw Leo throw a fit because of the Anoeta episode.

Even in Pep's time Messi wanted to be the boss.

He is aging it's about time he listens to his body and his manager.

Leo is the biggest person in Barcelona, whether you like it or not. Nobody can stand up to him because he has more power than anyone else in the City.

Leo could come out with a statement like "I don't like Bartomeu" and those 4 words alone would seal Barto's fate.

I understand he never wants to be benched but when Pep was here he was still a very young guy. Now he is nearly 29 and has a ton of mileage behind him after playing at the highest level for over a decade.

And yes we will still pay his wages even when he begins his decline. Barca isn't going to sell Messi unless Messi himself says that he wants out.

Well, then we are just going to go down the shitter.

Look, he had a very bad and below-par TWO WEEKS, we don't know why, and nobody can say that he is declining. His physical shape/speed/endurance aside, nobody can say his game is declining, certainly not based a mere TWO WEEKS.

And let's say you are right for the sake of this discussion, he is declining. A declining Messi is still much better than most players. If we sell him, who is going to fill his shoes? Are you ready for the negative impact left on our team?

We are a football club first and foremost and our No.1 goal is to play beautiful football and win games. We are not a corporation that has ROI as one of the primary goals. Money is important but it is no where important as what Messi can do for our team.

Because the last 5 matches have been all big games and our squad is thin as ice. Hardly rocket science. And because of performances of late we need him to secure the league.

And anyway, it's mostly 1 game a week from here on out anyway.

I dont like questioning of Messi. It seems extremely ungrateful to even think about his departure. Like 2014 all over again.
Messi is goat and thinks will work itself out next season. Hope he will realize even he needs a rest. We also never thought he would move back to the right so maybe he will adjust to this as well.

Thats what everyone thought about Ronaldinho in 2006. No one is bigger than the club.
