Yeah, "singlehanded carrying" pretty much doesn't and can't happen in the CL or WC. Competition is too high.

But there is a clear distinction in the amount of support they had. Portugal are a genuinely high level team even aside from Ronaldo. Balanced, great gameplan, etc.

Not really.

Both teams were poor.

Dont even think Portugal looked a balanced side in any of their games.

Said after Spain they looked shit and they were.

They totally dominated Uruguay today and were unlucky not to win, and Uruguay are definitely one of the better performing teams in this tournament.

No they didnt. The game went exactly as Uruguay wanted it to when ahead and all Portugal could do was one poor cross after another.

Uruguay were the better side by far.

It was Ramos, liverpool's goalie, and Bale who gifted 2018 CL to RM. CR7 almost had nothing to do with the final.

Just like how he won it a couple of years ago. What matters is his team got the most important trophy and his name is one of Ronaldo and Messi.

Uraguay had not much possession.

At least in both of today's games, the teams with much better possession lost to mostly count attack goals.

Bringing up possession and "shots" is a bit pointless, none of Portugals "shots" were any dangerous, and Uruguay let Portugal have the ball all game. Once they conceded they started attacking and ran over Portugal, then back to sitting deep again, they didnt really want the ball.
Portugal didnt have 70% possession because they are a dominant, briliant possession team.

The entire 2nd half went Portugal's way. Even before Cavani scored when it was 1-1. It was literally just a stroke of brilliance against the run of play from Cavani that saved them. They were hanging on a string before that and after, Portugal constantly getting dangerous looks in front of the goal. As inefficient as the crossing was, they were knocking on the door hard.

By far? How so? By having 2 shots on the goal?
They played on the luck and chances. They won't go far with that strategy.

Scored when needed to then defended brilliantly for most part other than the goal and allowed the game to be cross after cross.

Portugal had no ideas how to break through them.

Every shot, every corner is dangerous. These are all chances that can end up with goal. Uruguay was counting on pure luck.

looks like c.ronaldo and messi will be like de stefano and cruyff etc, club legends.

i dont think messi's legacy will be tainted. i just feel with all the footage there is of him in 20-30 years time him and the original ronaldo will be the stand out players because of the style visually what you see.

I've kind have had enough off these statistic fan faggots who keep going on about stats.

Serial winners are serial winners, what differs one from another is the style in which they win.

In America also there are too many statistic fan faggots. Thats what I call them. Fucking thick as shit. Blind as bats.

They were still getting pinned back when they conceded, it was just that one counterattack perfectly executed by Cavani that regained them the lead. Plenty of the shots were dangerous as well as many crosses/deliveries being inches away.
