I have to admit that I was wrong: did not think such a performance was possible after the disappointing trip to Argentina. He has finally learned to overcome jet lag. Today's performance was out of this world and his joy of playing and communicating with his teammates was wonderful to witness.

That Alaves game after internationals last year cost us the title.

Several years ago I said I hoped he would finish at 700 + 300. Looks like he is going way past.

I think it depends if he stays in attack or drops to midfield. If you look at Penaldo for Portugal he just plays up front against the likes of Faroe Islands and can rack up the goals and he goal hangs in Madrid set up from all angles.

Messi for Argentina is dropping deep just to get near the ball and he's not close enough to goal. It was getting that way for Barca as well last year. At least this season the added width of Semedo and Deulo or Dembele on the right gives him more service in the box and Alba on the left for the hat-trick yesterday. The downside is he doesn't have Neymar to create space.

Just realised the french league now has a factor of 2 for the Golden Shoe, joining the Bundesliga, Premiership, Liga and Serie A.

Probably means Neymar will end up with about 60 goals against the fishermen of that league. Be difficult to retain the title this year Leo :(

Cavani will continue to be topscorer for PSG this season (after scoring 35 last season), takes the penalties in Ligue 1 and so on and is of to a good start. If there's a player from the french league challenging for the golden shoe its rather going to be Cavani this season. Neymar will probably lead the Ligue 1 in assists.

Cavani, Neymar and Mbappe will score around 100 between them in the league alone if they avoid injuries. They could all score 30 each.

Wizard! His third goal against Espanyol was simply brilliant. It made me laugh hard how Espanyol's defence left Messi unmarked in their area.

Messi has been going for those types of goals more often. He lurks less deep at the box as defenders are busy marking other players closer to goal.

Players know as well. Always cut it back to messi.
Messi's positioning is underrated imo. He can be sharp as a knife when needed as we saw with those last two goals.
